| Jump to Survey | It took a day or two to get used to seeing so clearly - I had thought that my sight was pretty good so the huge improvement made by the glasses came as a total surprise. It was several years before I took to wearing glasses all of the time because I was still quite happy with my slightly blurred view of the world (apart from things like driving, theatre and cinema). | | Jump to Survey | After an initial reluctance to wear my glasses, I now like wearing them and have never been interested in contacts (particularly after realising that I look better in specs). I would certainly not contemplate surgery because of the terrible consequences of something going wrong. | | Jump to Survey | I put off getting glasses for years because I had never had any problems reading the blackboard at school or uni and had no difficulty with the eye exam in the driving test (because they don't test the eyes individually). Although I had noticed that the sight in my right eye was not too good, the left eye seemed OK and I couldn't see the point of paying for glasses that I was unlikely to wear. A medical examination at work eventually forced me to have an eye test and I was prescribed glasses with -4.5 for the right eye and no correction for the left. The glasses made a huge and totally unexpected improvement to my sight but for many years I only wore them for driving. Now I wear them all the time (because I enjoy being able to see clearly) but would still be OK without them (apart from driving) |
