You refer to yourself in third person.

I've never read an autobiography written in the third person. What about Jefferson's and Lincoln's? (not that I've read them - just bits of them for my politics course).
posted 13-May-2002 1:39pm
Given that this is in cars/driving:

1. Pontiac 6000 LE
2. Cadillac Cimmaron
3. Saturn SC1
4. Toyota Camry
5. Ford Ranger

I also had the pleasure of training in a Corvette at Bragg-Smith Advanced Driving School.

I'm not sure I understand. How is she able to categorize some else's survey?
Biggles Bronze Star Survey Creator
(reply to teatree) posted 13-May-2002 1:50pm
If it's left miscellaneous by the SC then the first person to vote in it has to choose the category - they can miscategorise it if they want.
(reply to Biggles) posted 13-May-2002 1:52pm
Sounds like she was being naughty AGAIN! Why didn't the survey creator change the category while it was in qualification or did no one warn him what could happen?
Biggles Bronze Star Survey Creator
(reply to teatree) posted 13-May-2002 1:54pm
Maybe he didn't check back in - he was warned. Sometimes it's best just to leave it - if it's going to pass anyway you can put your trust in people being kind! smile
(reply to Biggles) posted 13-May-2002 1:57pm
I looked at the advanced statistics and it looked like she did give him a warning as did others. It probably made her PO'd that he ignored several people telling him to categorize the survey.

You are incorrect. A biography is in the third person. An autobiography is in the first person. Auto is a prefix meaning "self."

I was born in Akron, Ohio on August 16, 1954 to Ed and Lois Jones. I started to school in September of 1959. My only sibling (my sister, Lorraine)was born in May of 1960. I graduated from high school in 1972. Since then, I got a two year degree in Business, have done some traveling, and have held a variety of full time jobs.

My car and driving autobiography:
I learned to drive in a Mitsubishi 1 ton truck, but did my drivers test in a silly automatic Toyota Corolla or something. My first car other than the truck (in 1990) was a 1965 Isuzu Bellett that you could start with a pocket knife, but it ran really well. Then I bought my parents old 1970 Peugeot 404 from my brother, and drove that for a while. I moved to Sydney where I didn't need a car, so left the 404 in my parents garage. Then I moved to the USA, where I did need a car, so we bought a 1989 Subaru GL station wagon in LA and drove it across country to Connecticut where it served us faithfully for 3 years. We moved back to Australia, and restarted the 404 and drove it across from Adelaide to Melbourne (losing 2 tyres and almost losing an engine on the way). Now it's fixed, and we drive it about once a week. The rest of the time it sits in our back yard and looks cute.

I am Jewel. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, 1979. I kick ass as a human being. Since I am a taurus, in an autobiography I feel the need to list my "things". I have a motorcycle, it's a cruiser, since I am not quite ready for the bike of my dreams I am settling for a yamaha v-star. It's a bad ass cruiser, and it makes my sunny day. I've got two wonderful mutts living with me, Bunny Bear and Floyd, I've had Bunny since I was fourteen. Bunny has lypo sarcoma in two places on his body that we know of. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars to remove the cancer but have not had luck in every location. So Bunny will spend the rest of the life he has being happy, no worries about how he's going to die, cause we're all going to die anyway. Floyd, my other baby boy... well he's my baby boy, I love him very very much, I brought him home (my truck at that point in my life) when I was 18. He has hung with me since then... he is a truly precious doggie.
All of us, Bunny, Floyd, and myself are looked after by Goza Girl. Goza is our precious girlie girl Goza Girl. She's a little brown head parrot who gives us more meaning and drive than anything we have ever known.

All of these kick ass things in my life are supported by my job, in a GE company. It's a job, keeps me going and deosn't bum me out. It's a good job.

I am rambling.... and I am buzzed as one can be on a Tuesday night. So I am leaving this totally unfinnished and pointless. So g'night.

I was born in 1962, in Burnaby, B.C. Canada, a suburb of Vancouver. For the first 19 years of my life, I lived in Coquitlam, another suburb of Vancouver. The house I grew up in was built by my family the year before I was born. About ten years ago my parents sold it to my older brother. Now he lives there with his family.

My upbringing was quite idyllic I suppose. My parents were both professionals. We lived frugally because my parents had a plan to retire early, which they did when they were 53. They now have three residences which they move about from throughout the year.

I was always interested in Art and Music. When I moved out on my own, I spent several years living in warehouse studio spaces in downtown Vancouver. In the 1980s I was doing a lot of performance art. I now refer to that time as my "transvestite period". I was very much into that whole Goth thing, although we didn't call it that at the time.

In the 90s I settled down quite a bit. I got a job working for a property management firm and started making good money for the first time in my life. I lived in the same apartment building for 11 years. I had the longest lasting romantic relationship so far. The stability all seemed to fall apart when I lost that job. Since then I've returned to the "moving around" lifestyle again. Stability is an illusion. Impermanence is the nature of existence. I turned 40 a couple of months ago, and became unemployed again...

I was born in Eugene, OR in October 1980. My parents were divorced in May of 1981. My mother, older sister, and I moved to Simi Valley, CA when I was 4. I attended Vista Fundamental Elementary School until 1991. My mother, sister, and I then moved to North Dakota (where I currently live) in June of 1991. Here, I attended a private school from 7th grade until I graduated in May of 1998. I became a secretary for a computer store in April of 1998. That company went bankrupt in September of 1999. I then became a secretary for another computer store in September of 1999. This store too went bankrupt in February of 2002. I then became a Service Manager for a different computer store in February of 2002. Here I am...waiting for this company to go bankrupt too. smile (j/k)
I met my boyfriend in September of 1999 where we both worked for the same computer store. We started dating in April of 2001 and are still together.

That's it.

Femina iucunda=pleasant or charming woman?
ad eam=to ?
vel=actually or for example?
maxime= the best, or highest degree or coolest
utinam=if only
cenam=dinner, dine?
possem=able to?

That's all I could get and I don't think most of them are correct. I cannot seem to make sense out if it.
Good lord...I suck! Ok, what did that really mean and how close was I?

(reply to mandy) posted 17-May-2002 8:05pm
Well done (but ut = that) --- I must admit that I found it easier to say this
in Latin than in English which would literally read as follows (more or less),

"Charming woman, sometimes your words led me to a thought or a fantasy and I
felt a strong desire ... [followed by a certain suggestion of what you could
eat - censored]

I wish I could invite you for dinner!"
