I think it would be cool if the team owners did it without being pressured or forced (e.g. some legal dispute happening). I've seen other teams change their logo and go through a rebranding process that is similar. Try not to focus on the negative aspects (the offensiveness of the term, whining about political correctness, etc.), but spin it as an opportunity to bring positive attention to the team. I think it would be a great, kind (dare I say "Christian") gesture to make in support of Native American to show that all the bad history we've had with them is in the past and that we are all Americans now.

I found this article which has 19 alternate names for the team: http://theweek.com/article/index/102991/19-non-rac... ... I think I like Washington Warriors the best.

No. I think people tend to get a bit *too* PC about some things.

"Reds" would be fine. They need to change the logo as well. Arrows and feathers are fine, but not together.

From what I've heard, the vast majority of Native Americans don't care. Also, one of the main people pushing for the name change claims to be indian but is not recognized by the tribe he claims to be a member of. From what I can see, the name really is a non-issue in reality.

I've often wondered about that...native indians don't have red skins.

I don't have a strong opinion on this. I can see both sides of the argument.

Enough of this polictically correct nonsense. They should NOT change their name.

The American Indians they were protesting at the football game in Denver they just do not like being called red I guess has something to do with that and same with African Americans they prefer to be called this

I had no idea. I'm not interested in professional sports. I only watched my sons, grandsons play...and didn't even understand the game, was just there really to show I loved and supported them.

African Americans prefer to be called Redskins?

Yes by all means. Change it. Let them be... "Hunters and Gatherer's"!

Personally, I'm sick of hearing the whining of the non-whites that think everything is racist. They have no confidence in themselves. Whites are called everything in the book, yet you don't hear white people whining all the time. Perhaps this is a way the non white think they can break us down to feel guilt for whatever. I am not, nor will break down, nor do I feel guilt.. . As long as the non-whites feel sorry for themselves, they will never go forward, have any confidence.

Don't care really. It's only because of this survey did I make the connection.

I think it would be nice of them to do - just to be nice. I don't think they should feel a raging pressure to, though. I like what Bill said, and Zang's suggestion for the Reds sounds reasonable. I really don't think it would be a big deal. I imagine there might be stubborn rabid fans resisting it, but they would have to get used to it, wouldn't they?
