Maybe it should be, "The wind knows the secrets of the dessert"? Because it's a fart joke, or something...

The wind knows what happens in the desert, quietly observing or a quiet observing person sees all.

It sounds like a poet or songwriter going for a romantic and/or mysterious feel, if so, I'd like to read more. There was a beautiful song by the Doors called 'Yes, the River Knows' with a similar theme; and way back when there was a theme tune 'The Summer Knows' from the coming of age movie, 'The Summer of 42'.

Sounds like some sort of poetic metaphor.

It's a stylish way of saying that people don't fully understand the desert.

It knows all the people the desert killed, but it is not talking cause it is in cahoots with the desert by burying the bodies.
