Yes, my name is Lois, but many say Luise.

No, but they usually misspell it, even when they just read it, particularly 'Krystal', sometimes even 'Crystal'.

I usually have to preface spelling my name by saying 'spelled Germanically'.
My last name I break into words: Mc-Kins-try.

My name is Dean. People get it.
I guess its a possiblity to say it incorrectly as Dee-Anne if you were unfamiliar with the English language. So far, despite working with a lot of ESOL people, no-one has.
The most I get is being called Mr. Dean regularly, which I think is a cultural thing.

It's more the opposite. If I tell someone my name, they hear and/or spell it incorrectly. For example, I say, "Marrs" and they write down "Morris".

Yes sort of, they think it is spelled "Tappin" or "Toppin" and pronounce accordingly

First name, no... Last name , yes. Interestingly though, the younger generation seems to be getting it right. The checkers at Safeway always say "thank you Mrs." And the younger ones tend to pronounce it correctly. It's assuming that I'm a Mrs. just because I'm older that they get wrong.

All the time. It's en-head-you-WAH-nuh. (The a in "wah" is like when you say "aah" for the doctor.)

Yes, people mispronounce my name very often when they're reading it for the first time. Or they get confused when I spell it for them. It's really annoying.

Not my first name but my surname is the plural form of a more common surname, so I often get people missing the last letter off. It's more noticeable when written down than in speech though.

My first name is very common. Most people mispronounce my last name. I am always surprised when someone gets it right on the first try.

My name doesn't get mispronounced very often (except by the kids I work with, but that's cute rather than annoying!)

My names is Chasity but most people mispronounce it and say Christy or Cassidy.
(reply to happytrust98) posted 23-Feb-2013 8:49am
I might have confused it with Chastity, which I have heard of before.

My name is not difficult. Sometimes thick accents make me unsure, but I listen again carefull and yes they are saying it right.
