I don't think so. I'd end up like Mildred Montag. I've lucid dreamt loads of times, but this is too clinical.

Maybe flying sex.

Oh yeah, fer sure! I've always wanted to do this sort of thing. Dreaming's fun and I'd like to make it even more fun, dreaming about things I like most. Lucidity and "high dreams" more often would be cool. And to remember 'em more often.

I've been trying lucid dreams, no dice so far. But I wouldn't use a device or have holes drilled in my head. Unless it was like a dollar.

Sure. I can manipulate them a little bit, when they are lucid. Did you know you can suggest dreams to yourself during the day, and eventually, you'll have one like the suggestions? Much fun!

No, I think messing with dreams is a bad idea. But, then again, it would be fun to try this, just to try it.

Yes why would I want to do this in the first place, and maybe it just sounds like a good idea!

look for your hands in your dreams. once you do, if only for a breath, you'll be able to. difficult to do and to 'hold', but cool none-the-less for that one fleeting moment...

I guess. I would certainly manipulate the bad ones into good ones, if nothing else. The rest I would probably just leave alone.

As the article was presented (very interesting) I am somewhat apprehensive to the negative affects that may occur, this reminds me a little like psychedelic drugs. I am skeptical that a device could create specific images and emotions; I would expect stimulation of ingrained memories and possibly much more lucid dreaming. The issue as I see it would be similar to LSD, where it affects one individual differently than another. I have had a lot of personal experience with “acid” and know that not everyone should try it. I have seen some very scary reactions in people that were not mentally well balanced and were not able to handle the sensory input that LSD creates. I would expect that some people may react negatively with over stimulation of the sensory areas of the brain.

I dream lucidly a lot on a regular basis and usually I can remember them fairly well if I make an effort to. I enjoy the adventure of not knowing what I will dream about and surprise and amaze myself with my dreams, I might be disappointed if I thought my dreams were not my own. Besides some of my dreams are deeply personal and the idea of someone being able to record and play back someone else’s dreams opens the opportunity for mind manipulation and in my eyes that would be very dangerous to our personal freedoms.

There was a movie made years ago with Natalie Wood called “Brainstorm” I will not take up the space to describe it but follow the link below to read a synopsis of it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainstorm_%281983_fi...

It conveys pretty much how such a device could be misused or abused, in one scene two scientists record the act of sex onto a tape machine, later another scientist comes along and when nobody is around starts to play it back in his head. He is found later still with the headset on with his eyes fixed and dilated; he OD’d on the looped tape! Another issue that would come up is the issue of experienced death possibly recorded and played back to someone, would that induce death? Then there is the Military, God only knows what they would do with such a device.

I like dreaming the old fashioned way.

Did you have to emphasize “LONG” ago, yes it was 1983 some 25 years ago, and most of the people on this site were babies or young children, and I was 29 years old.

SO I AM AN OLD MAN!

(I dont feel old, nor do I act it, only in my dreams.) laughing out loud grin

I had dreams last night that was all new stuff. Strangers, places I've never dreamt before. Nothing familiar at all, except one dream was near a car dealership in midtown, and a driver looked kind of like Carlos Santana. He was driving too fast.

Yes, dreams can be healing. Dreams emulate what is happening in real life. If stress was in the body it could show up in the dreams. Standing up to the big bad wolf would be much easier in a dream than it would be in real life.

How old are you.. I am 57 so unless you are 58, got ya beat as oldest ol' phart here... Although I prefer Soiled Senior Citizen rather than the Dirty Old Man label... I am a curmudgeon and love it.. Heck I refuse to grow up, so act like I am a teenager also...

And I agree, I also never wanted to grow up or grow old. Spent too much time with the elderly and saw what time did to them. I always hoped I would be dead by 40 because that was OLD!!! ... Dang it.. missed that one.. Oh well maybe by 60...

Cheers!!

Yes, and have tried in the past and failed. (Lucid dreaming) I hear it can be a life changing amazing experience to be able to do it every night at will. Very spiritual and self discovery oriented + self happiness and amusement.

HOWEVER

That article on artifical dream manipulation is interesting, I'd give it a go for sure though.
