If you had to make a 30 second speech to the whole world, what would you say?

posted 21-Nov-2016 3:02pm
People don't have to get along with one another. People should stay in the country they were born in. Life isn't greener elsewhere. Global warming is a hoax, and look both ways before crossing the street.

The earth always warms up right before it goes into an ice age. Global warming is just another liberal propaganda talking point.

But we are not about to enter an Ice Age. We have just come out of one. This is the first time in the earth's 4 billion year old history that so many animals (us included) have lived on the planet. We are over using the resources and causing catastrophic damage. Surely you can see this???

I'd probably speak about how I feel politics divide people through appeal to humanity's strongest emotions, which are always precarious.

It would depend on whether or not they were likely to actually pay attention. If no-one was really listening, it wouldn't matter what I said. If they were going to be listening, I would probably go for some kind of brief public health statement like advising smoking cessation. Out of 7 billion people, I could hope at least a few would quit or choose not to take it up.

I don't know what I would say. I'd have to sit and think about it a bit. I wouldn't want to come off as preachy.

These answers are pretty short. I remember in a speech class and in radio/tv production when we wrote 30 second advertisements, a 30 second spot took up more than a 3x5 card full of words. You have more time, people. Fill the dead air grin

What would the aim of it be? Why would someone make up something like that?
(reply to LindaH) posted 28-Nov-2016 5:42am
Control of the masses and their money. The ol' scare tactic, "give us money so we can stop this so called global warming (or climate change or what ever BS they call it now)"
Things that should be done is the amount of garbage that gets produced. Example: The big push a few years back, we need to start using CFL (compact florescent lights) to use less energy.
Fine until someone discovered that CFLs are full of mercury and must be disposed of in a special way (more cost to the consumer to line some fatcats pockets).
I am waiting for the other shoe to fall with LED lights. Like they lead to cancer due to increased blue wave length light.

Who's money are they taking?
(reply to LindaH) posted 28-Nov-2016 12:20pm
> Who's money are they taking?

They look for handouts from the government or special laws to be passed and no matter how it is sliced (government handouts -> tax payers money) or new laws raising the cost of production (which flows down to the consumer -> me). The bottom line is it is forcibly removed from our pockets to go into some special interest group that only has a special interest into how much they can siphon into their pockets.

Doesn't make sense. Like it seems like it would not be able to serve that purpose.

"Global Warming" has nothing to do with the earth, it has to do with money. Now, back to the monkey joke.

Who gets the money and from where?
(reply to LindaH) posted 30-Nov-2016 2:17pm
Any person or company that says they can "fix" it. A lot of the money comes from your purses and wallets of all tax paying US citizens. The rest comes from regulations placed on companies, which costs them money, so their goods cost more, which brings me back to the same purses and wallets. It's a 'war' with no solution, just people making their bank accounts fat as long as people believe in their cause. Al Gore is my hero - the guy flies in to a gathering in is multi million dollar jet, which burns jet fuel, puts on a show that everyone drove their Prius' to, collects cash for showing up, and then jets off back home. The guy is a freaking genius! I mean it'd be like me having anti-Ford rally's and showing up in a Ford, and people give me money and praise me for doing the right thing, even worship me. He's got it figured out man.
