Not the whole thing, but there are one or two places that do. The rug on the upper staircase... we've tried to get rid of it, but haven't succeeded.

I have one that's pretty snobby about an unscooped litter box and will occasionally squat and piss on something like a pile of laundry in the basket... to remind me of my obligations.

So occasionally, I do find the smell in my house... But, I was thinking more of houses that have absorbed the smell all over.... The houses where the stench in the air is so thick, it permeates the furniture and walls.

No. That is a tough question, ecause when you are around it all the time, you really don't smell it anymoe. I clean my 4 boxes every day and a half, that is for 4 cats. Sometimes you get a whiff of poop * wince * but that might not be the cats.
It was the dog smell I had trouble with. That wet dog fur smell where your clothes would smell. It wasn't dirty dog, just ...dog. When I moved I noticed some of my clothes in my dresser drawers even had a faint aroma. That i didn't notice till te dogs were gone.

 * wince * I was in a house like that.
The house I bought was like that in the bedroom. I didn't notice when I was looking at it. But after I bought the house, opened up the edroom door I knew I was fudgeed. I stripped the room, layed luan and tile on the floor and put plywood on the cieling. Painted the walls with KILZ. No more smell. * smile *

No, not for many years. I've been in other places that do and can't stand that smell. I'd want an indoor/outdoor cat with a pet door if I ever got another one.

No. I don't have any pets, and we don't do anything that leaves a cat pee type of smell.

Not generally, no. Every so often I'll leave the litter a little too long and then it might smell a little stale near the litter box. And every so often one of the cats misses the box (she pees with her butt near the opening for some reason, rather than going in and turning around) and pees on the floor. Then it smells like pee.

It smells like dog pee. I don't think that smells like cat pee. But my mom's the one who says that, I don't notice any smell at all.

Yes & no. The "yes" part being when the Tilly's litter box has gone too long without being changed.

I had a cat I found living in a storage building out side my Dad's house. I took the cat home and soon realized it hardly ever used the litter box. Instead it would stand at the door wanting out. A while later it would come back scratching at the door wanting back in. If I let her out to go to the bathroom before I went to work she wouldn't use the litter box at all while I was gone. I sure do miss that cat!

My front room did smell like cat pee at one time. I talked my ex into taking a stray kitten and while I had it in the house waiting for him to pick it up it went on my carpet. I did every thing to try and get the smell out but I had no luck. I finally got the smell out by taking up the carpet and I found that I had beautiful hard wood floors! By the way, when we got the scared cat to my ex's house the first thing it did was go pee right in the middle of my ex's bed. He threw the cat out of the house and we never seen it again.

No it doesn't, I haven't really been to another person house for quite awhile but I this area I don't imagine it hard to find a person whose house smells like cat piss.

I miss my animals too. I accidentally left my cat indoors without his litter box and he went to the bathtub drain when he had to go. He would reach up a paw to ring a little bell on the front door when he wanted to go out.

Dog smell makes me nauseous. Especially wet dog and slimy dog breath. That part definitely sucks about my job. The worst smell on this planet is dog crap. I learned very quickly to get upwind when a dog squats when I'm walking it.

My new kitten is a bit snobby too. So far since we've gotten her I haven't forgotten to scoop out the box for more than a day... sometimes I scoop it twice a day. But right as I'm finishing scooping it out, here comes Dixie.... she jumps in and makes a deposit.

One time I was cleaning out the litter box and took a little too much time... Booger needed to crap, and he did it in the same location the box is usually in. Made me laugh.

Now that bell idea is priceless.
I would like to train Booger and Dixie to use the toilet... at least the water would keep the stink controlled. Booger peels wallpaper.

Yah-huh! Kitty kisses! Especially when they stand on their hind legs and wave at you so they can take your face between their paws and give you loves.

In the building I live in now pets aren't allowed. Some do, some don't. Lots of people have dogs and some don't pick up after 'em on the sidewalks.

No, Thank God. I always try to clean the litter box at least every other day. I been into someone's home one time and it had that awful cat pee smell I nearly got sick. One time my cat peed all over my jacket (yes it did reek really bad) and a co-worker suggested to use Oxy Clean and that got rid of the odor.

I thought so. I liked the way he used to follow me down the sidewalk a little way, like a dog. But then my dog thought he was a cat. He fell out of a two-story window twice onto concrete and it didn't hurt him at all.

I absolutely hate that... we have a huge park here that allows dogs and there are little stations where they provide little scoop bags for when your dog poops. Even then most people can't be bothered. There are little kids running all over, a lot of them with bare feet. So you never know when one of them is going to pick up a turd to play with or step on one and get worms. * wince *
Galomorro
(reply to cabinfever) posted 16-Sep-2007 12:20am
We have that too in our parks--little containers with plastic bags put in them for people to use to pick up after their dogs. A few parks allow dogs off-leash. But still on the sidewalks you have to watch where you walk constantly.
