Yes I shop at such stores quite a bit

Not within the last decade, at least. I dimly recall going in a couple of dumps like this a long time ago but the quality of the stuff and what they were selling wasn't good enough to make me want to continue to go there. In fact, once at a street fair I went in one of these presumed "dollar stores" and picked up what was supposed to be essential oils. This was one of the worst things I'd ever bought. There aren't a lot of these that I see around.

not much recently but I have in the past a little... I got some bowls (cheap!) at one a few years ago that I like a lot of and use often

*Bows head in shame* Yes but I don't encourage it...

Yes. I don't go often. I like them though. My hobby is photography and there is a group on Flickr for 'Self-Portraits'. Sometimes we do a 'pound-shop challenge'. You go to a pound shop / dollar store and find a prop. Sometimes you can get some good regular stuff.

I like going into them and getting price checks.

Yes, though not in a while. Usually the stuff they have is just junk. It's rarely anything I need.

yes. They were fun until I realized I spent over $15 on crap.
I did like thw store and I could find what I needed, it was just hard to stop picking things out that 'only cost a dollar'. I had to stop going in them lol but they are all gone from everywhere near me.

I have found some great bowls and drinking glasses at the dollar store too. Big roomy cereal bowls and giant beer mug style glasses.

I still have those bowls, but I've been using them a bit less often. They are great for oatmeal (which I had been eating a lot), but terrible for soup (it just spills out so easily). But, I don't eat soup much. I haven't been back to the dollar store in a while either. I did buy some little dessert bowls at Walmart recently, for cat food. I keep breaking the other dishes I have for that (we I try to wash them). Those are square and tend to produce swastika-like patterns of uneaten cat food. The new bowls from Walmart are round. I'm hoping for a yin-yang from them at some point. That would be ironic given our cat's personality.

smiley:::grin That reminded me of the guy that 3D printed his cat new dishes because her whiskers were rubbing the dish funny.

Though I don't think it was whisker-related, I do use bowls that have similarly shallow sides. I think the reason I did this (years ago) was that the cat (mostly the other cat we had) would dig the food out of the dish and make a mess.

I have this feeder that came with a bag of cat chow in the 80s or early 90s. It was just some kind of promotion and I believe it was meant to be a cheapy/temporary cat feeder. It belonged to my cats when I was a kid, and when I moved out on my own it came with me. My cat Sybal, who passed away a couple of years ago, wouldn't eat without it. One time, while in transition from moving, it was discovered that Syb was willing to hunger strike for his dish.

Now my cats use it and they do make a mess with it, but it sits on a cafeteria tray that catches most of it.
