I don't know many men. I checked the names of people that I know, even though many of them are under 18.

Jacob, Michael, Matthew, Andrew, Joseph (my brother!), Nicholas (a teacher), Daniel (Dan), Christopher (t'other brother), Alexander (Alex), John, Ryan.

I didn't include anyone under 18 in writing this list.

I recently had a conversation in which I correctly guessed that a 2-year-old boy was named Zachary because all 2-year-old boys seem to be named Zachary right now.

Nearly half. There would be more if I included boys, and people I have known in the past.

The only Zachary I've ever known would be 24 now. The only 2 year old boy I've met recently was named Clint.

All but Joshua, Tyler and Brandon. Some are French versions of the names listed.

BUT:

I know of a tree called Joshua, an actress called Mary Tyler (Moore after she was married) and a town in Quebec called St-Gabriel-de-Brandon.

That covers them all!

I called my son Matthieu (Matthew) in 1984. Mat's name in French is usually spelled with one "T" - Mathieu. Many boys his age are called Mathieu but my son is the only one with 2 t's, so they used to call him "Matthieu-deux-T" in grade school. It's an old fashion way to write his name in French - just like in English now. I named him so, because at the time there were no Matthieu's or Mathieu. My little cousin inspired the name and he is much older than my son. I guess that people like my cousin brought the name back into fashion...

Zachary is an old name too. I had a Jehovah's Witness neighbour that named their son Zachary, just like the folk singer from Louisiana - Zachary Richard, have you ever heard of him? He is very popular in Quebec - I love him!
