What is the most recent gift that you gave someone?

As in the survey about the most recent gift that you received, feel free to take a broad interpretation of 'gift.' It doesn't have to be wrapped in paper and tied with a bow... for instance, if you spontaneously picked a flower yesterday and handed it to your sweetie, that counts just fine.

I shower my daughter with special things just about every day...
Today it was a goody from Starbucks, a composition notebook and some pens.

We also bought her teacher a cookie. We were going to give it to her during her teacher conference but it was canceled. Sadly, an 8 year old student at my daughter's school was stabbed to death by her 13 year old brother after school on the 14th. My daughter's teacher was too emotionally distraught to have conferences today.

I gave Ian a soap-making kit yesterday. November 15 is our traditional stupid-gifts day. He got me "Life's Little Book of Instructions"--if you ever read it, I swear you will never have the same hope for the human race.

She did know the girl who was in 3rd grade. My daughter is in 6th grade and is her school's student council president, so she knows most of the school's students well. She's alright. Sad, pensive. Talking about her feelings with her friends, me and her teachers has helped. We live in a small town where things like this do not happen very often. This is the first student ever killed in the history of her elementary school. We're all just coping. I'm weepy tonight. So much tragedy everywhere...I feel like it just keeps coming and coming.......I'm really trying to draw on my spiritual understanding....and help my daughter put this and life..and death...into perspective.
