Canceled travel plans, although not entirely by my own choice.

I've discussed contingency plans but not to a greater degree than I normally do.

I'm shopping really early (Before Halloween) for Christmas, so I'm not in the malls when it is crowded. Terrorists like crowded places, ya know.

We were already stocked up on bottled water and canned goods to some extent, which we do in case of earthquakes, power outages, or whatever. About the only thing I've done to prepare for possible terrorist attacks is read up on what might happen and how to react.

Has anyone else but me considered the possibility that terrorists might put anthrax on our currency? Or do I just have an overactive imagination?
sequel
(reply to LindaH) posted 13-Oct-2001 12:32am

I don't think that would be very effective. You have to inhale literally hundreds of thousands of spores to get inhalation anthrax. I don't think that many spores would stick on a piece of currency in the first place, and if they did, it would surely be detected by the first person it was handed to. If caught early, inhalation anthrax is nearly 100% curable. And now that we know to be on alert for it, it's unlikely a case would not be caught early. Subcutaneous and GI anthrax are much less dangerous, and again, all cases will most likely be caught.

Despite all the hoopla about chemical and biological weapons, I think there's much more of a threat from more overt methods like bombs.

Nothing. I find it funny that people stock up on gold for future disasters. Food will be money. Gold will be worthless.

I don't feel threatened in any way by the US attacks. I haven't taken any of these precautions, and probably wouldn't. I'm not willing to worry myself or to sacrifice my way of life for something that likely isn't ever going to happen to me (I don't live anywhere like NYC or DC).

What bothers me is that terrorists might get their IDEAS of what to do by the things they see on the Internet.

Nothing on you -- the issue of Anthrax on currency had probably been discussed on forums everywhere before you even mentioned it. But good point -- it's a scary thought.

Nothing. I marched in a protest last weekend... against this whole bombing...... for peace. It was very emotional for me... even though I don't know what I want to have happen with this whole thing, and I don't even know where I stand. I guess in a situation like this there are no "right" actions and/or decisions.

Anyway.... no... we don't know what tomorrow will bring, and stocking up is just expecting bad stuff to happen... and that bad stuff may never happen... not a good place for your head to be.

The only thing that I have altered is traveling. I was planning on seeing my sister in Charleston, SC for Xmas, but now with possible future attacks on planes, I am not going anywhere until next July to see my mom in NYC, and that may be by train, NOT plane. As for some of the other stuff listed, why bother getting gas masks and suits? If you're next on God's list, there's nothing you can do to prevent that.

The terrorists are trying to destroy this nation in many ways. By disrupting the economy (fears of travel is one). Fear, the psychological war. I'm not afraid for myself, but for my loved ones. The evil ones are jealous of what we have. They want what we have.

Nothing. I might do something if I thought there was an actual threat, or if if I thought that doing something would actually minimise my risk to such a threat. But for right now, nothing is going to stop me loving, living, sharing, laughing, crying, hoping, drinking or shopping.

I haven't done anything...I live in Canada and I don't really feel a big threat of anyone attacking us when we really don't have too many enemies around the world...however I was in New York with my g/f when everything happened so I do worry about her and something occurring while I am there, but I just hope that nothing that terrible will ever happen again.
