| Mimi | posted 25-Aug-1998 10:55pm I was working on my web site about 1am one weekend & had PBS on TV for company when the Teletubbies came on. I was prepared to hate them from the stuff I had heard & read, but I can see where they would be fascinating for the very, very young ones. The part with the TV in their stomachs is strange, but I did like the little clip that was shown & even learned something from it. I just hope they don't become the bane of parents' existence like Barney has. |
| Timmi | posted 26-Aug-1998 12:44am Not only not seen it; never heard of it. |
| hunter | posted 26-Aug-1998 2:32am I'd actually kind of like to see it, in a "can I actually induce insulin shock through visual stimulus" kind of gross-out motivated way. I like Po, from the pictures I've seen. I do think it's really cool that they're actually HUGE and they've got specially bred enormous rabbits to further the impression that they are small. |

| daver | posted 26-Aug-1998 7:18am I've heard the name, but that's about it. |
| seven | posted 26-Aug-1998 7:28am I thought teletubbies were what you called kids who got fat from watching TV all the time. |
| Lucy | posted 26-Aug-1998 9:21am I saw it when my kid sister was watching. They danced around a lot and it took them about ten minuted for them to say goodbye. |
| doom | posted 26-Aug-1998 9:49am Please do not let this be another purple dinosaur craze. |
| milktree | posted 26-Aug-1998 10:00am I know I've seen it, but I can't for the life of me remember what it's all about, or what it's hook is. |
| lisashea | posted 26-Aug-1998 12:55pm I've heard of them and seen pictures but not the show. I think it's pretty harmless for kids - maybe better for their attention span than Disney movies which parents try to get them to watch anyway. If the parent really wants a "TV babysitter" they're done well. But the parents should really not be sitting the kid in front of a TV, they should be interacting with the kid. That's a great aim but I'm sure there are parents who just can't do it. |
| steve | posted 26-Aug-1998 3:04pm I think that I would like to see it. |
| emily | posted 26-Aug-1998 7:15pm Guess I can't answer this one. I thought this was a new term for "couch potato". |
| jettles | posted 27-Aug-1998 8:29am winky dink-- he carries a purse...... you gotta love it!! |
| Jody | posted 27-Aug-1998 10:43am I haven't seen it, but as long as its better than Barney it'll be a great contribution... |
| jjg | posted 27-Aug-1998 11:29am My daughter loves this show. The characters are incredibly childish. She has plush dolls and action figures. She loves the whole thing. ***Jettles: Tinkie Winkie, not winky dink. The other characters are Lalla, Po, and Dipsy. |
| lelle | posted 28-Aug-1998 9:13am ***Badtzmaru: I saw part of "Blues Clues" one day -- it's really cool! :) |
| BadtzMaru | posted 28-Aug-1998 11:41pm seven: Body-image comments are the opposite of humorous. I think about the best kids' show is Blues Clues -- but it's for ages 2-5 or something -- I read that little kids love that show so much because it really boosts their confidence. |
| Resy | posted 31-Aug-1998 3:21pm when i first saw ads for the show i thought they were strange. when i saw a stuffed one in Toys R Us, it frightened me |
| anonymous | posted 1-Sep-1998 11:31am I wrote an article on the show once. Has anyone noticed just how Orwellian their world is? It's enclosed, sanitized (though infested by rabbits), and the only contact with the outside world is through these periscope speakers. It's an extremely controlled environment, but then again, that might be comforting to small children. |
| stolnbliss | posted 1-Sep-1998 1:47pm There is something really really odd about the show.. almost scary. |
| LeXie24 | posted 1-Sep-1998 8:18pm LAA LAA IS THE BEST!!!!! |

| nbarone | posted 17-Sep-1998 9:41pm i've never heard of them. do they sing? |
| bill | posted 6-Dec-1998 11:05am I finally saw one last week - one of them looked rather erotic, a giant blue phallus on it's head. |
| anonymous | posted 13-Feb-1999 12:27pm Hey, where's the Tinky-Winky is homosexual option? |
| jonathan | posted 16-May-1999 6:20pm Shows like Teletubbies and Barney worry me because they are so oriented towards their target market that they're not actually doing anything to help kids obtain useful skills like an attention span. |
| mandy | posted 16-May-1999 7:34pm I went to Walmart and squeezed their tummies...One of them said...Daddy ice cream man...Mama bad!!!!! I can see why Jerry Falwell wants them taken off television. Especially the homosexual one Tinky Winky. A Purple Boy with the symbol for homosexuality(a triangle) on his head...carrying a rather cute handbag. Shameful! |
