I have nothing to hide and I find it hard to imagine how my personal information could be used to harm me or others.

It depends on what it is. I dont feel comfortable with lots of people knowing my phone no or address.

I'm concerned about things like my banking, credit information. I tend to guard that pretty close. I'm somewhat concerned about some personal information, but I figure if someone really wants it bad enough...whatever. I don't care who knows about my shopping habits and crap like that.

I think it's a little scary how little privacy we have, but more on principle than from any fear about my credit card number falling into the wrong hands. I also think it's completely ridiculous that I would have to pay extra to have my phone number and address be unlisted.

Anyone can find out who someone's neighbors are. If you can find their address, you can find their neighbors.

Great question. It worries me deeply. Anyone with a little bit of skill and moxy can get any kind of information they want to. Medical records are the scariest. Insurance companies will put you through all kinds of crap.

Anyone getting a hold of my credit report will spend days laughing.

joalis: People don't even have to work to find someone's neighbors. Records of people's friends, neighbors (from current and former addresses), and relatives are out there available for purchase in bulk for a few bucks.

I've probably said everything there is to know about me right on this site. * raspberry * I don't really care. The thing I am quite squeamish about it putting my photo up. And it doesn't have anything to do with privacy. The last time my photo was on the Internet some creep doctored it and put it on a porn site. I think that's pretty self-explanatory.

I can't imagine how anyone would find out who someone's friends are. I'd pay someone who can tell me who my friends are.

I was speaking to my mate's mum the other day and we were talking about firewalls. Incase you dont know they prevent people being able to hack into your computer when you are on the internet. She told me about this programme she saw on tv that said about this guy who didn't have a firewall and had been reading book reports on the net. He went to the library the next day to get out a book and as it was being processed the woman at the library said, 'Oh, you were reading the report on this yesterday, did you enjoy it?' Apparently, a advertiser or someone from the book company or someone had accessed his computer and seen where he had been or something. I think that's really freaky, that complete strangers can look into even what books you like to read!

I thought there was one but I cant remember. I thought I was looking up what all my neighbors paid for theirs.

 * frown * Maybe he should take the address off of the subscribe page, and only send it to people who e-mail him with an interest in subscribing. I don't know if that would make subscription go down, but it might cut down on the privacy invaders.

The battle's lost already. The people who I wouldn't want to have access to my personal information already have it. Those who don't have it yet, I don't particularly care about.

We have lost our privacy. We have been forced into a system, where we have to lose our privacy. We have to have credit cards in order to write a check, if you can even write a check. You have to give alot of information in order to get these credit cards. Eventually this will be a cashless society.
