| natsim | posted 27-Aug-2001 4:00am I have nothing to hide and I find it hard to imagine how my personal information could be used to harm me or others. |
| autumnlight | posted 27-Aug-2001 6:07am It depends on what it is. I dont feel comfortable with lots of people knowing my phone no or address. |
| Maarten | posted 27-Aug-2001 8:15am I couldn't care less. I have nothing to hide. |
| Zang | posted 27-Aug-2001 9:44am I'm concerned about things like my banking, credit information. I tend to guard that pretty close. I'm somewhat concerned about some personal information, but I figure if someone really wants it bad enough...whatever. I don't care who knows about my shopping habits and crap like that. |
| Enheduanna | posted 27-Aug-2001 9:50am I think it's a little scary how little privacy we have, but more on principle than from any fear about my credit card number falling into the wrong hands. I also think it's completely ridiculous that I would have to pay extra to have my phone number and address be unlisted. |
| LindaH | posted 27-Aug-2001 11:33am Anyone can find out who someone's neighbors are. If you can find their address, you can find their neighbors. |
| jkiehart | posted 27-Aug-2001 1:22pm Great question. It worries me deeply. Anyone with a little bit of skill and moxy can get any kind of information they want to. Medical records are the scariest. Insurance companies will put you through all kinds of crap. Anyone getting a hold of my credit report will spend days laughing. |
| jkiehart | posted 27-Aug-2001 1:23pm So far am surprised that the answers so far are so nonchalant. |
| Oscar | posted 27-Aug-2001 2:16pm Very |
| Jemmy | posted 27-Aug-2001 2:43pm Oh. I never really thought about it. I don't care. |
| sequel | (reply to LindaH) posted 27-Aug-2001 3:03pm joalis: People don't even have to work to find someone's neighbors. Records of people's friends, neighbors (from current and former addresses), and relatives are out there available for purchase in bulk for a few bucks. |
| confetti | posted 27-Aug-2001 5:25pm I've probably said everything there is to know about me right on this site. |
| anoddoblivion | posted 27-Aug-2001 5:51pm I'm not very concerened. |
| LindaH | (reply to sequel) posted 27-Aug-2001 11:50pm I can't imagine how anyone would find out who someone's friends are. I'd pay someone who can tell me who my friends are. |
| autumnlight | posted 28-Aug-2001 8:30am I was speaking to my mate's mum the other day and we were talking about firewalls. Incase you dont know they prevent people being able to hack into your computer when you are on the internet. She told me about this programme she saw on tv that said about this guy who didn't have a firewall and had been reading book reports on the net. He went to the library the next day to get out a book and as it was being processed the woman at the library said, 'Oh, you were reading the report on this yesterday, did you enjoy it?' Apparently, a advertiser or someone from the book company or someone had accessed his computer and seen where he had been or something. I think that's really freaky, that complete strangers can look into even what books you like to read! |
| Cleo | posted 29-Aug-2001 12:12am Depends on who they are & what they're going to use it for. |
| Lahdee | (reply to LindaH) posted 30-Aug-2001 8:23pm I want to find out what grandmas old house on north star sold for last. I want to buy that house whenever the people in it now move. lol Isnt there a site with price listings of houses or something? I thought there was one but I cant remember. I thought I was looking up what all my neighbors paid for theirs. |
| LindaH | (reply to Lahdee) posted 30-Aug-2001 10:56pm Yeah there is a site like that, but it doesn't cover Alaska. The bums. |

| davec | posted 1-Sep-2001 5:43am The battle's lost already. The people who I wouldn't want to have access to my personal information already have it. Those who don't have it yet, I don't particularly care about. |
| ASexyBabe | (reply to mandy) posted 5-Sep-2001 2:38pm Hey Twisty can I still call you that? |
| mandy | (reply to ASexyBabe) posted 5-Sep-2001 10:53pm uh...sure.....but I'd rather you call me mandy......really |
| ASexyBabe | (reply to mandy) posted 6-Sep-2001 8:35am I am so sad that you changed your name your other name was so fun and cool |
| lerojist | posted 6-Sep-2001 11:18pm We have lost our privacy. We have been forced into a system, where we have to lose our privacy. We have to have credit cards in order to write a check, if you can even write a check. You have to give alot of information in order to get these credit cards. Eventually this will be a cashless society. |
