| Mimi | posted 18-Aug-1998 1:27pm I guess it depends a lot on where you live. In Texas the summers are so brutal and the springs so humid that I had to give them the lowest rankings. |
| Jody | posted 18-Aug-1998 1:39pm Fall rules! Especially in New England. This question reminds me of that Princess on Howdy Doody. |
| lisashea | posted 18-Aug-1998 2:11pm This is really tough. I love all of the seasons. I went fall-spring-winter-summer because I love both mt biking and skiing, and camping and many other outdoor activities. I hate it when it's *so* hot you can't be outside, so that puts summer last. Fall and spring give the most opportunity for crossover sports so those are the best. Bill/jjg: then how come those get the worst scores? Or is a lower number better? |
| glen | posted 18-Aug-1998 2:16pm I know, this is a hard one. :) I really love Summer, so that just has to come first for me. After that it's almost a toss-up. I put Fall second, thinking of the warm days, cool nights, crunchy New England leaves and apple cider. Winter was just about tied with Fall, because I am SO into snow skiing, but being cold every time you go outside put it third. I love Spring too, but lately it just hasn't quite had the excitement that the others do... mud season and all... :) lisashea: Yes, a lower number is better (1.0 is best, I think) Fall is kicking butt. |
| steve | posted 18-Aug-1998 2:50pm I hate heat; you can always put more clothes on, but when you're naked, you're naked. *** (I went spring-fall-summer-winter, because I like all that rain.) |
| doom | posted 18-Aug-1998 3:35pm They all have good and bad points. I love summer and fall but that is also when my allergies are the worst. Summer and winter rate about the same. |
| eris | posted 18-Aug-1998 4:57pm Here in California, we have different seasons: Earthquake, Fire, Flood, and Panic... I enjoy them all, actually. Very hard to rate. Also, it depends on what climatic context the seasons are set in: summer in the midwest is not the same as summer on the west coast, or on the gulf coast... |
| lelle | posted 18-Aug-1998 5:05pm Autumn and spring, then winter and summer. |
| emily | posted 18-Aug-1998 6:07pm I'm afraid I'm one of those wishy-washy spring/fall people....not crazy about extremes. Summer without the humidity is ok and I can't imagine no snow (or at least the chance of it) for Christmas. I have a hard time dealing with shoveling and sliding all over the road and taking an hour and a half to make a 20 minute trip kinda sucks, but taking a walk at night when it's snowing and hearing the crunch beneath your feet and the flakes sparkling...hmmmm...i guess if the weather's poetic I like it. |
| qBaz | posted 19-Aug-1998 11:11am winter, fall, spring, summer. Except it's gotta be a good winter, with lots of snow that doesn't automatically get rained on within 24 hours. Boston winters (with the exception of Winter '95, which rocked) don't cut it. |
| gilly | posted 19-Aug-1998 11:16am Winter doesn't suck quite as much now that I ski, but it's still my least favorite season. Fall rules - gorgeous colors, that wonderful feeling in the air, the smell of illegally burning leaves, and my birthday. What else could you want? |
| jcdino | posted 19-Aug-1998 11:48am Hard to answer this one. I really enjoy them all pretty much equally, for the most part. |
| romkey | posted 19-Aug-1998 11:53am qBaz - New Hampshire winters, on the other hand, rule in that regard. Once there's a decent snowfall it's there till March or even April - unless it's one of those years when it's 80 degrees in early March, like it was this year. |
| RatQueen | posted 19-Aug-1998 12:50pm I live in Florida, so I may not get the full point of this survey. However, Fall is my favorite season. Not too cold, but not hot either. I really dislike spring. I don't like bugs and spring brings bugs!! Summer's good, but not the best; too hot. And, of course, that leaves winter...too cold for my standards, even in Florida. But not as bad as spring. At least the whipporwills are gone. |
| jzp | posted 19-Aug-1998 1:10pm they all suck. i want to live in a climate controlled dome. |
| Farmboy | posted 19-Aug-1998 7:34pm I like the extremes |
| Artemis | posted 20-Aug-1998 7:27pm Summer, spring, winter, fall. I should probably like fall before winter but I don't. Snow is fun. Saskatchewan winters; yuk. |
| lizzie | posted 21-Aug-1998 2:33pm I prefer Fall the best. It is getting cooler outside, the bugs are going away for the winter, and the leaves in New England are downright dynamite to gaze at. Spring is my second favorite, followed by winter, then summer. Summer is just too hot and buggy for me to like it. Driving in snow does suck, though. |
| Resy | posted 21-Aug-1998 8:52pm I don't care for the extremes. |
| lion | posted 23-Aug-1998 1:35am I really like the fall. Mild weather, and all those leaves turning colors! |
| Atzilut | posted 25-Aug-1998 4:58pm of course in the New England area of the US, seasons are pretty uniformly awful. Spring is wet and cold, winter is unbearably cold and summer is so blisteringly hot and humid it scarcely bears imagining. Fall is my only respite. AIEEE! I can't believe winter got the highest rating! are you MAD! did our ancestors discover fire and how to use furs for warmth so you chill-blain-on-the-brain ski-freaks can dis them like this! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! JZP: I'm with ya, babe. |
| jjg | posted 26-Aug-1998 12:17am Fall, spring, winter, summer. ***Daver: your ancestors wore lether undies? |
| bill | posted 26-Aug-1998 5:58am jjg, no I think daver's ancestors wore hagus. |
| reality | posted 26-Aug-1998 10:01am I prefer the cold. Winter seems so much cleaner somehow. *um... Atzilut: you may want to rethink your statements, unless I am confused.. these were ranked 1-4, with 4 being the worst. the number being closer to 4 is the worst. I think it is only freaks like me and skiers that like winter. *daver I thought you just used weasels? or does that only apply to certain areas? |
| daver | posted 26-Aug-1998 12:16pm I like winter best, but not all the time. I like fall less, but more evenly. My feelings towards spring are fairly neutral and I hate summer. **Atzilut: I take a certain perverse pleasure in being outside in weather that would leave me frozen solid in five minutes were I unclothed. I think of it as a tribute to those ancestors that discovered the concept of wrapping themselves in dead animal pieces. **bill: Haggis, please...and do you know how many of the little beasties you have to skin to make some decent clothes? **reality: No, it's a muskrat...haggis don't roam freely here, so I must substitute. |
| seanhuxter | posted 1-Sep-1998 10:28am I love spring for the promise of summer coming, but I put fall in front of it because it just feels so damned good! |
| nbarone | posted 11-Sep-1998 11:26pm fall rules! followed by winter, spring, then summer *RatQueen - what do you have against whipporwills? any bird goofy enough to sing at night is cool in my book... |
| Kari | posted 26-Sep-1998 7:27pm This was very hard for me, I live in Florida we don't have seasons it's always hot. |
| Lady | posted 8-Nov-1998 12:34am I like colder months they are better for cuddling |
