| eris | posted 17-Aug-1998 6:13pm I used to be a night owl, and now I seem to be more of a morning person. I think it has mostly to do with a shift in my activity patterns (from school to work). One thing I have discovered is that life is better when I'm not sleep-deprived, and I try to make a point of getting enough these days. |
| daver | posted 17-Aug-1998 6:16pm **Yeah, what eris said, verbatim. |
| gilly | posted 17-Aug-1998 6:26pm I don't like to get up too early, but in general, once I'm up, I'm up, and I can be pretty disgustingly cheerful about it. And I tend to crash pretty early at night. |
| emily | posted 17-Aug-1998 6:30pm Business dictates that I be a morning person....pleasure dictates that I be a night owl. If I'm having a good time I would never say, "I better get going....I have to get up in the morning" I'd rather enjoy myself and pay for it the next morning. I guess that makes me a night owl. |
| lisashea | posted 17-Aug-1998 6:44pm We tend to get up at 9am, get into work at 10:30, then get to bed late. Definitely night owls. |
| lion | posted 17-Aug-1998 6:58pm Definitely a night owl. The best way to watch a sunrise is to stay up all night. |
| Lucy | posted 17-Aug-1998 6:59pm It depends. During the summer, I tend to stay up late, but during the school year, I get up early. |
| BadtzMaru | posted 17-Aug-1998 7:12pm I can't say what bill said. |
| Mimi | posted 17-Aug-1998 9:09pm I seem to need very little sleep so I can enjoy the predawn hours and last thru Letterman. My coworkers of the same age are in bed by 9 or 10pm and can't get up at 6am to get to work. I don't understand how people can spend so much time in bed. |
| phi | posted 17-Aug-1998 9:58pm Without other constraints my sleep schedule will rotate later in the day until I am sleeping 8 hours starting 45 minutes before sunrise. Of course it's been some time since there have been no other constraints. |
| seven | posted 18-Aug-1998 7:24am I used to be both in college. Now I hate mornings but get up early, while I enjoy the night but go to bed early. |
| Jody | posted 18-Aug-1998 8:13am I'm a morning person, just not an early morning person. ***Mimi - It's so weird - when I saw you mention "Letterman" I didn't get the "David" and "show" associated with it. I got this flash of Joan Rivers' voice saying "It's a word.... it's a plan.... it's LETTERMAN!". Funny.... |
| lelle | posted 18-Aug-1998 8:15am I work better at night, and I prefer nighttime. I love being up really early, though. (I was up at 5:15 Sunday, driving on Rt. 9 at 5:30. It was really cool.) |
| glen | posted 18-Aug-1998 8:41am I really enjoy getting up early sometimes - morning is a gorgeous time of day and it's great to have time to relax, eat a nice breakfast, etc. before you start whatever it is you're doing. However, I don't tend to want to get up early anywhere near as often as I tend to stay up late, so I put night owl. |
| doom | posted 18-Aug-1998 9:16am Mornings are just not right. |
| romkey | posted 18-Aug-1998 9:36am My brain likes the night, my body likes the morning. I am The-Two-In-OneTM. Lately the body's been winning out. |
| qBaz | posted 18-Aug-1998 10:49am Both, with semi-disastrous results on my health, periodically. |
| jjg | posted 18-Aug-1998 11:56am I'm cranky in the morning and want to go to bed early at night. I have a two hour period where I am good to do anything on any given day. |
| Farmboy | posted 19-Aug-1998 7:31pm I'm definitly a night owl. I tend to not be fully wake up until 6pm (though I'm at work by 10 am). I like the night time. |
| dpolicar | posted 20-Aug-1998 11:34am I've always enjoyed staying up late but lately have gotten into the habit of waking up early, with the result that I don't get much sleep. |
| jzp | posted 21-Aug-1998 1:17pm hate morning. must get up extra early to function in a first shift manner. hate getting up for work. hate working before noon. my body knows whats bets, let it figure it out! |
| lizzie | posted 24-Aug-1998 3:41pm My natural tendency is to be a night owl. I tend to bottom out between 3 and 5 PM, which makes me nap until 7 or so, and then I can be up until 1 or 2 in the AM without being tired. Having to get up at 6:30 AM puts a big damper on that, though. I need my sleep. |
| Resy | posted 31-Aug-1998 3:44pm Oh What a Beautiful Morning! Oh what a beautiful day! reality ?? morning people 'unnatural' that made me think of vampires ... must be cause I just watched Blade! reality - evidently, the survey results agree with you, as of this reading, 26 night owls and 6 daywalkers! In my own defense (of course) I sleep until I am ready to awaken ... it just happens that I'm ready by 6 am! oh well, let's just value the diversity and move on. When I come up with a good definition for 'getting a life' I'll ask you for one on 'unnatural morning people' - deal? |
| bill | posted 31-Aug-1998 7:23pm What daver said. * Resy, I'm like you. I wake up around 6am (or even before), I'm awake - so I get up. I don't use an alarm clock. What could be more natural? reality, sleeping a lot is a sign of depression, perhaps you should see a shrink. |
| reality | posted 1-Sep-1998 9:09am morning people are unnatural... I enjoy sleep far too much to be either.. *what seven said. *Resy: I got heckled the last time I uttered that statement too, but I will stand by my statement. *Resy: deal... *bill: I only sleep lots on weekends (and usually only on sunday). however, I do enjoy my sleep, and find dreaming more interesting than real life. I am usually unhappy to have woken up. especially if it is being jarred awake by my alarm clock, I almost always get woken in the middle of a dream. |
| seanhuxter | posted 1-Sep-1998 10:21am Definitely a night owl, but my wife and daughter (three years old) are morning people, and it's hard on me. |
| Mark | posted 8-Sep-1998 5:53pm I've always found it easier to stay up late than to get up early. I think my body wants days to be 28-32 hours long. |
| Jaime | posted 5-Oct-1998 5:47am Now, I'm a morning person. But I used to be a big night owl... |
| Amy412 | posted 17-Oct-1998 10:46pm NOT a morning person for sure! I stay up until 4 am and wake up between 1-2 pm! Not because of a job either--just my preference! |
