| Pomeranian | posted 17-Jul-2001 8:44pm Still Xander and in a roundabout way Faith. |
| confetti | posted 17-Jul-2001 9:25pm I never get to watch it, but I do identify with Buffy. She also looks like a blonde version of me, which is pretty creepy. |
| jkiehart | posted 17-Jul-2001 10:03pm never saw it |
| Gamera | posted 18-Jul-2001 1:55am Dawn, Spike, Willow about equal, then Tara and Xander, and a little Joyce (not enough to mark it). |
| natsim | posted 18-Jul-2001 2:57am I saw the movie, but I haven't seen the TV series more than half an episode! |
| Maarten | posted 18-Jul-2001 4:02am I don't watch that show. |
| kaleb777 | posted 18-Jul-2001 5:22am I think this show is ratcrap. |
| jettles | posted 18-Jul-2001 9:46am i have never seen the show. |
| Enheduanna | posted 18-Jul-2001 1:53pm Willow and Buffy. |
| SueBee | posted 19-Jul-2001 1:44am None yet, since I've never seen an entire episode, but I hope to remedy that soon! |
| Pooh_Bear | (reply to kaleb777) posted 20-Jul-2001 12:01pm Have you actually seen the show? If yes, what don't you like? |
| Pooh_Bear | posted 20-Jul-2001 12:01pm I find myself a combination of Willow and Buffy. Probably more Willow. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 20-Jul-2001 3:52pm Spike & Drusilla-they were great when they were a couple. Now Spike is all drooly over Buffy to the point of having a Buffy robot built. It was like something right out of the "Stepford Wives!" His character is starting to look more like a teenage boy with his first crush than an evil vampire. |
| kaleb777 | (reply to Pooh_Bear) posted 21-Jul-2001 11:24am I have seen it, but couldn't get into it. Maybe it was all the vampires looking like jocks or cheerleaders that put me off. I think it's a Eurocentric form of cultural imperialism and simply perpetuates European culture and myths throughout the world. (The last sentence was just me being a blowhard. I really just couldn't get into the show. I'm the same way with "Charmed") |
| romkey | (reply to kaleb777) posted 23-Jul-2001 12:11am well a lot of the vamps are high school kids... hence jocks and cheerleaders... |
| SueBee | (reply to Pooh_Bear) posted 23-Jul-2001 12:53am I finally watched a whole episode today and it was really good! It ended "to be continued" and I groaned. I think it'll take me awhile to figure out the background of the characters, but it was fun to watch even though I don't know them yet. |
| Gamera | (reply to SueBee) posted 23-Jul-2001 4:24am ooh! which episode did you watch? |
| kaleb777 | (reply to romkey) posted 23-Jul-2001 5:42am There are freaky and ugly looking high school kids though. |
| Jemmy | posted 23-Jul-2001 11:03am I don't watch enough to decide...anyone who watches it want to tell me who I'm like? |
| Pooh_Bear | (reply to kaleb777) posted 23-Jul-2001 2:23pm Fair enough. Just making sure you weren't turned off by the name or something (like a lot of other critics). And, I agree with you about charmed. |
| Pooh_Bear | (reply to SueBee) posted 23-Jul-2001 2:24pm Which episode?? I'm very, very happy you liked it! |
| SueBee | (reply to Gamera) posted 23-Jul-2001 11:26pm Hi Sweetie!! It was the episode where Ben is Glory and Glory is Ben. Buffy was spacing out and thinking she killed Dawn. Willow saved the day! |
| SueBee | (reply to Pooh_Bear) posted 23-Jul-2001 11:32pm Please see the comment above to topper. |
| kaleb777 | (reply to Pooh_Bear) posted 24-Jul-2001 1:20pm Is Buffy a real girls name in the US? I can't believe some of the names. I haven't seen an entire episode but since the main character is female I'm guessing there is at least one neurotic, nerdy, geek type guy who has to be helped out by Buffy. It's all about female empowerment. I mean look at the geek Xena hung around. |
| Pooh_Bear | (reply to SueBee) posted 24-Jul-2001 10:05pm Ooh, that's a tough one to start out with. I was almost confused by it! Glad you stuck with it! |
| Pooh_Bear | (reply to kaleb777) posted 24-Jul-2001 10:06pm Well, I don't know anyone named Buffy. I think it's more of a joke name, to typify the blonde, bimbo, airhead. There is one character, Xander, who started as the character you describe, but they've done a lot of development and he's come into his own these days. |
| SueBee | (reply to kaleb777) posted 24-Jul-2001 11:50pm I went to high school with a girl named Buff. Actually, her legal name is Barbara, but everyone calls her Buff. But I've never known a Buffy except the TV character from Family Affair in the 60s. |
| mandy | (reply to kaleb777) posted 25-Jul-2001 12:14am My Auntie had an ugly little dog with an underbite named Buffy. She smelled bad. |
| mandy | (reply to kaleb777) posted 25-Jul-2001 12:15am wait...the underbite wasn't named Buffy.......the dog, I mean...... |
| Gamera | (reply to SueBee) posted 25-Jul-2001 3:26am Oohh, that's pretty late in the series(end of this season just past). I hope you get a chance to get all sucked into all the characters in the earlier episodes a bit, too. |
| kaleb777 | (reply to mandy) posted 25-Jul-2001 12:34pm Why are the ugliest pets given names like that? I suppose it's better than yelling "here Smelly Smelly" from your back door. |
| kaleb777 | (reply to SueBee) posted 25-Jul-2001 12:38pm It may not be a common name now but you can bet a few people hve named their kid Buffy since this show started. I know a woman who named her kid Keanu. Needless to say he gets the crap beaten out of him at school. |
| SueBee | (reply to Gamera) posted 26-Jul-2001 12:13am I will as soon as I find some earlier episodes to watch. We got into The X-Files after it had been on for a few years by watching a bunch of older reruns. I just have some catching up to do. |
| SueBee | (reply to kaleb777) posted 26-Jul-2001 12:15am That's sad. Parents really need to think about the kid when choosing a name. |
| mandy | (reply to Gamera) posted 26-Jul-2001 12:59am UG! I watched Buffy for the second time tonight...and she freakin' died!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Biggles | (reply to mandy) posted 26-Jul-2001 12:44pm Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!!! WE'RE A SEASON BEHIND!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!! Good job I'd heard that spoiler before or I would have to have your guts for garters! |
| Gamera | (reply to mandy) posted 26-Jul-2001 7:27pm Arrrggg. That's a hard one to come in on. YOu gotta get some of the early tapes (I'd lend you mine if I had any). |
| mandy | (reply to Gamera) posted 26-Jul-2001 10:25pm *sobbing* |
