In the kaballah, those points of reference are known as 'chochmah' and 'binah', in hinduism that's 'the sattvic' and 'rajassic' gunas, in the trinity thats the father and the holy ghost. I'm planning someday to pass through the abyss, but have much safer things to attempt first.
