Well, no, because I can't vote. If I could, I'd vote for them if I thought they would be the best leader. I wouldn't consider the sex of their lover(s) relevant. I will admit that this may make their job harder when dealing with certain people; I figure that if they run, they are willing to accept that possible handicap.

Sure, it's irrelevant once the press gets over it.

I have in fact voted for a homosexual for President, but not because he was homosexual.

If the candidate represented my views and beliefs I would vote for them without thinking about their sexuality.

I wouldn't vote for a candidate who made a campaign issue of his/her sexuality. But if they are campaigning simply on their policies and abilities, then their sexuality is irrelevant.

I hardly think it is relevant. My present MP was the first openly gay MP in Canada. He has been incumbent for more than 20 years. http://www.svendrobinson.com/ Before I moved recently, I was represented in the provincial legislature by a gay MLA, who was also one of my tenants when I worked in property management. He was defeated in the recent election. The race was led by three openly gay candidates.

If they are a good leader, why not? I remember a few years ago the city of Christchurch New Zealand voted for the worlds first transgender mayor. She seemed to do a good job. Voters are more concerned with the fiscal performance of a leader.

I voted irrelevant - however maybe it would get some of the more bigoted citizens to loosen up! It could be a good thing. Personally I don't care about a leader's personal life at all, just whether they get the job done.

Being gay, I would be more inclined to vote for a gay politician, but only if I also agreed with their political beliefs. I can't say that being gay would make them a better leader, but they would be a better leader for me.

Yep. I live in Massachusetts and I'm a citizen of the UK. Ironically enough, I found out (after the fact) that there was a period in the 90s when I could have voted. I wasn't eligible to vote when I reached my majority (which happened while I was in the US). Then, unbeknownst to me, a change in UK law made me briefly eligible and now I am once again ineligible.

No, I probably wouldn't unless they were real good and the other candidate was not an idiot(pretty much the way with or without a homosexual candidate). It might be irrelivant to how they run the country, but it is something that would make me be a little one sided on my vote. I mean hey, I don't spend my time hating homosexuals, and hey, let them go do what they wanna do, just keep it away from me, and yes it is a sin. (Plus it would help if I was old enough to vote anyways lol)

The sexuality of the person is irrelevant. I would vote for the person whose political views I was most in agreement in. I don't let gender, race or sexuality cloud my decision making, I vote for the person that I feel can get the job done.
