If you believe in reincarnation, do you think people ever incarnate as animals, or only as humans?

The dictionary defines reincarnation as the rebirth of the soul in a new body.

If I were to definatley believe in reincarnation, I think we would sometimes be animals and sometimes be humans.

Well, if I HAVE to come back as another creature, I'd prefer to come back as an animal. Either a bird or some sort of sea animal. Like a sponge or one of those round spiny things that doesn't really move around so much as gets shuttled about by the sea current.

if reincarnation is real then it is not something to put limits on. there are infinite possibilities that we can't imagine. but no matter what anyone believes its likely no one will find out until they die (and if there is reincarnation they may forget they found out!)

yeah, if you break it down to latin and mix it with spanish it means 'to be meat'.

that's a very interesting choice. if i were to be an animal, i would be a cat. hey there's a new survey idea. what animal would you be reincarnated as?

Wouldn't "to be flesh" maybe work a bit better?

sure, i was just finding the most wierd definition. carne in spanish means meat, while carnal is slang for brother. in latin it more refers to a human body.

I'm skeptical about reincarnation, but if it occurs, I'd think it's only as humans, not animals.

I don't believe in reincarnation of any kind...human or animal. Dust to dust.

I used ot think that we started out as animals and worked our way up to being more and more intelligent human beings as our souls became wiser and more experienced, but I'm not really sure if I believe that anymore.

Yeah, that sea urchin idea sounds really exciting...uh huh. * wink *

Being a bird would be cool though.

I always thought that would be nice as long as you get a good home where you have no worries. Being a stray would really be awful.

Yeah, and some people do really mean stuff to cats, which upsets me more than anything; I wonder if maybe I was already a cat in a past life cos I'm so attached to them!

I might have guessed that from your user name. * wink * I love cats, too. We adopted a really cool cat a few months ago. She has purred her way into our hearts.

I would LOVE more cats.... but we live in a small condo, and Bert rules the roost, so it will have to wait until we buy a house. Then it will have to be a girl cat, and either a very small kitten or an old cat. It will be weird though because I have a special relationship with Bert and that would change with another pet. But I think he would benefit from some company during the day. He's getting lazy.

Until recently I always had more than one cat. I thought they needed the company. But it commonly causes problems. Cats often feel the need to urine mark if there are other cats living in the same home. I've had countless customers with that problem, and have experienced it myself. It's so very frustrating that people sometimes find themselves ready to get rid of a beloved pet. I think from now on I'll only have one cat at a time, unless maybe they are litter mates. I think that might work out better. Bert sounds like a cool cat. I love his name!

Yeah, my husband picked the name - he had Bert before he had me! I would NEVER get rid of Bert. I know that I can't move back to England now, because there's no way he's going in quarantine, so that's that for the next 10 years I guess! We could still move to the US though, which would be more fun anyway.

Someone told me that having littermates isn't always a good idea, as they bond with each other more than you. I would miss that special only-child thing I have going with Bert! Interestingly, the only thing he ever urine-marked was a jeanshirt belonging to a girlfriend of mine, that accidentally ended up in our closet after a bunch of us went away on a trip. This was just before I moved here to be with my husband - Bert must have smelled another woman on Steven's stuff, and gotten mad!! You gotta love when the cat looks out for you.... * smile *

Yeah, poor Allison - typical man, Steven didn't even notice the stink before he gave it back to her - she was like, what the hell happened to my shirt!! She's allergic to Bert as well...!
