| Zang | posted 17-Jun-2001 4:50pm I'm not a big fan of jewelry, I think certain cuts work best with certain stones. I kind of favour 4 and 8 sided geometrical shapes... |
| jkiehart | posted 17-Jun-2001 5:12pm I like round cuts. |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 17-Jun-2001 5:12pm It depends on the stone. Different stones refract light differently (& have different cleavage) so for a diamond it would have to be a true brilliant cut, and for an emerald (my fave), an emerald cut. For crystals to put rainbows in the house, a simple octagonal cut works best. |
| daver | posted 17-Jun-2001 9:23pm There's a reason for cutting different stones differently. |
| mandy | posted 17-Jun-2001 10:32pm I like the square cut. |
| callen610 | posted 17-Jun-2001 10:50pm I like the princess cut, but my husband liked the round ones better, so we went with that for my diamond ring. It has a large round stone with three small ones in a triangle shape on each side - set in white gold. |
| Cleo | posted 17-Jun-2001 11:24pm I love emeralds & rubies.Therefore,I like the emerald cut best.Oh,yeah I like amethyst also. |

| justjulie | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 19-Jun-2001 9:40pm Yeah, that was cut. take an Amethyst, I just prefer it in it's natural state, you know like a cluster of crystals. Or a geode, i love cracking open one of those...truly one of mama natures finest |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to justjulie) posted 19-Jun-2001 10:23pm I ran into a lapidary & antique shop in the sierra foothills back in my newlywed years. The proprietor had on his counter a 1/4" slab of stone he sliced which had a perfect image of the virgin mary on one side and a dove on the other. He had been a non-believer till then. I collect stuff like that all the time now, though at the time I considered an awesome quirk of nature, not realizing that all of reality could manifest in such a fashion and have meaning. I have plenty of raw stones (esp amethyst and smoky quartz) and nothing cut. I saw that raw amethyst energy in you instantly, though not in such words. |
| justjulie | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 19-Jun-2001 10:31pm WOW...very cool. I personally haven't found things of that nature in stone, but rather I discover such things in wood, driftwood or whatever. I like to collect those "types" of items as well. It's funny how such objects find you...and how "we" can never find them. |
