| Zang | posted 16-Jun-2001 4:50pm Many many times. Watching films is a solitary pastime anyway. I don't go to films that much, maybe once or twice a year, but about half the time I go alone. |
| Lahdee | posted 16-Jun-2001 4:55pm I used to work in a theater and got to see movies for free, so I did when I got off work. Does that count? |
| callen610 | posted 16-Jun-2001 5:10pm No, I have not and probably wouldn't either. |
| callen610 | (reply to Zang) posted 16-Jun-2001 5:11pm Hmmm...maybe I'll reconsider ... |
| Biggles | posted 16-Jun-2001 5:19pm No, I've never heard of a theatre that showed movies............If I found one that did, maybe I'd go |
| juliw | posted 16-Jun-2001 6:07pm Yes, lots of times, and I would definitely do so again. |
| juliw | (reply to Biggles) posted 16-Jun-2001 6:10pm What do they call places where you go to see movies where you live? In the US, there are movie theaters, as well as theatres that show live performances, plays, etc. |
| Iseult | posted 16-Jun-2001 6:31pm Yes, and it was because my parents wanted to watch a movie that I didn't, so we decided to go separate, and meet afterwards. |
| Iseult | (reply to Biggles) posted 16-Jun-2001 6:32pm Maybe a word 'cinema' could help? |
| callen610 | (reply to Biggles) posted 16-Jun-2001 6:37pm Sorry, I'm American and didn't realize that the word "theatre" would be confusing.. |
| Jemmy | posted 16-Jun-2001 6:43pm No, and I don't want to. I hate going places alone. I only like to be alnoe when I am in my house, otherwise I need at least one other person with me to feel comfortable. |
| mary | posted 16-Jun-2001 6:43pm No, I rarely go to the movies and the only times I do go is when someone drags me to one. Whenever I go through a break up or a rough time my mom always suggests that I go see a movie (we live kind of far apart) and I always say "go to the movies alone?!?. Some day I may try it, probably a long time from now. |
| SueBee | posted 16-Jun-2001 8:09pm No, I would not enjoy that. Going to the theater is a social thing for me. I need someone to talk to before and after the movie. |
| SueBee | (reply to Biggles) posted 16-Jun-2001 8:13pm We call it a movie theater, do you call it a cinema? |
| confetti | posted 16-Jun-2001 9:35pm Once, when I was ten. I went to see "Spice World" alone, because nobody cared to see it. Does anybody remember that one? |
| Zang | (reply to confetti) posted 16-Jun-2001 9:46pm Well, the Alzheimer's is setting in pretty good so anything past two years ago is a little fuzzy... |
| mandy | posted 16-Jun-2001 10:06pm Yes I have. Batman Returns! |
| Frostbrand | (reply to mandy) posted 16-Jun-2001 10:31pm I'm sorry. |
| mandy | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 16-Jun-2001 11:11pm I loved it! Where the hell have you been? |
| Strider | posted 16-Jun-2001 11:29pm I saw Fantasia 2000 on an IMAX screen alone. I didn't enjoy it as much as seeing a movie with people I know. |
| Strider | (reply to callen610) posted 16-Jun-2001 11:32pm Wow I find it shoking that an americian acctully splet theatre right and not theater as it usually gets spilt in the us. |
| mandy | (reply to Strider) posted 16-Jun-2001 11:37pm An expert on spelling, are we? |
| Frostbrand | (reply to mandy) posted 16-Jun-2001 11:50pm Well, I didn't like how Burton's Batman just killed indiscrimiantly. That's not the Batman comic fans like myself knew and loved. That's why I actually liked the last two films. yeah, Two Face and poison Ivy were killed in those films, but with Two-Face he was kinda in a bad spot, and Ivy brought it on herself in her case. |
| Matt | (reply to confetti) posted 16-Jun-2001 11:56pm Yeah, I remember renting it... cant say I remember how the movie went though. |
| Cleo | posted 17-Jun-2001 2:43am My husband hates going to the movies, but I love it.On our 1st date he wanted to impress me so he took me to see The Rolling Srones movie "Let It Bleed" he took some ludes & slept through the whole movie.I had to keep waking him up cause he started to snore.Never went to a movie anymore after that. |
| Cleo | (reply to mandy) posted 17-Jun-2001 2:48am Is that the one with Arnold? |
| smurf | posted 17-Jun-2001 3:37am Yup. Then I had to walk home by myself at 2 in the morning. Creepy!!! |
| Biggles | (reply to juliw) posted 17-Jun-2001 8:14am and Iseult, callen and SueBee: Okay, I feel a little silly now............I wish there was an emoticon for *blushing* |
| juliw | (reply to Biggles) posted 17-Jun-2001 10:16am Oh, you don't have to be embarrassed. |

| darkshadowsseeker | posted 17-Jun-2001 1:42pm Yes I have. Why would anybody have a problem doing this as not everybody has the same taste in movies. If I went only to movies that others liked or were popular at the time, I would miss out on so many films. |
| jkiehart | posted 17-Jun-2001 5:23pm Yes, and I would do it again. I don't know why people are afraid to do things alone. I eat a restauraunts alone, go to bars alone, go to movies alone... It's not like anyone notices, or cares. And it makes you look mysterious! |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 17-Jun-2001 6:25pm no |
| Frostbrand | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 17-Jun-2001 7:22pm Almost every movie I saw last year (except Road Trip, Chicken Run, Almost Famous, X-Men, The Replacements, Gladiator, Titan A.E., Shaft, and The Contender) I saw alone. |
| confetti | (reply to Zang) posted 17-Jun-2001 8:46pm |
| HareKrishna | (reply to confetti) posted 18-Jun-2001 12:23am Yes I sa it on video @ my local library. http://whereis.com.au/search/result.jhtml?_DARGS=%2Fsearch%2Fresult.jhtml |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 18-Jun-2001 12:45am oops, yes. I only see a couple movies a year at the theater. The rest are on video. When I do see a movie I expect it to commemorate the quality of a relationship I'm having with someone, and the experience has to be complete with a giant tub of popcorn eaten with m&m's. I just now remembered that I finally had some time to watch movies when I was homeless. People would pass out free passes for movies that hadn't been marketed yet to collect review material. I used to see things like 'Lost Highway' that way. Those I did see alone. It was funny, in very many ways I was living better homeless than I allowed myself making $5k/month just a year earlier. |
| Cleo | (reply to mandy) posted 18-Jun-2001 1:46am Oh yeah, that was choice!!! I remember that one now.Thank you for posting the pic that made me feel extra special. My favorite Batman was the one that the Riddler was in.Can't for the life of me remember which one that was.All I know is that Jim Carey was him. |
| Renee | posted 18-Jun-2001 3:53am never have, never will |
| Jemmy | (reply to mandy) posted 18-Jun-2001 8:06am I saw that one. It's the one with the giant duck the penguin has, right? |
| jettles | posted 18-Jun-2001 8:14am yes, many times, i like it! |
| Oscar | posted 18-Jun-2001 3:37pm Yes. My boyfriend was being a dick so I went to see Sweet November by myself. When I got back, my other roommate felt bad because he said that if he had know that I was going alone, HE would have gone with me. |
| Maarten | posted 18-Jun-2001 3:45pm Sure |
| romkey | posted 18-Jun-2001 5:18pm yes, why wouldn't I? |
| callen610 | (reply to Strider) posted 18-Jun-2001 10:00pm Sometimes I find myself spelling things the English way - like "grey" instead of "gray" or "colour" instead of "color". |
| callen610 | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 18-Jun-2001 10:03pm You must see A LOT of movies! |
| Strider | (reply to callen610) posted 19-Jun-2001 12:57am how about "center" and "centre". Ofcourse "centre" is the corect way. |
| cheyer | posted 19-Jun-2001 10:16am Yes I have, but only about 4 times. The last time I went alone was to see "Saving Private Ryan". I just didn't think my wife would enjoy seeing a war movie, especially one that graphic. |
| Frostbrand | (reply to callen610) posted 19-Jun-2001 10:05pm This year I've seen a grand total of 1. By this time LAST year I'd seen more than 4. |
| callen610 | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 19-Jun-2001 10:29pm I used to see more movies than I do now. I've just seen "Bridget Jones Diary" and "Evolution" so far this year... |
| Brian | posted 20-Jun-2001 4:51pm Yes, and I wore a raincoat. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to Brian) posted 20-Jun-2001 6:28pm to see PI? You bad boy, we'll have to spank you when we're done with twisty's monkeys. |
| Frostbrand | (reply to callen610) posted 20-Jun-2001 9:09pm Evolution was the ONE movie I saw. |
| heyzeus1 | posted 21-Jun-2001 7:24pm of course |
| callen610 | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 21-Jun-2001 10:07pm I'm seeing "Tomb Raider" tomorrow night... |
| Frostbrand | (reply to callen610) posted 21-Jun-2001 10:11pm That movie doesn't interest me. Here are the movies (that I know of) that are coming before Dec. 31st 2001 that I'd like to see. A.I. Cats & Dogs Final Fantasy Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back Lord of the Rings Scary Movie 2 Rush Hour 2 |
| kaleb777 | posted 22-Jun-2001 4:59pm Yes. I prefer to go alone. I've also seen a movie when i was the only one in the theatre. I felt kinda guilty because of the amount of power I was using to see that movie, but I stayed anyway. |
| SueBee | (reply to callen610) posted 24-Jun-2001 2:43pm How was Tomb Raider? I'm not into the game or anything, but the movie looks good because I love Angelina Jolie. She seems perfect for the part. |
| SueBee | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 24-Jun-2001 2:45pm A. I. looks REALLY good! Did you see Pay It Forward starring that same kid from Sixth Sense? He's great! |
| Frostbrand | (reply to SueBee) posted 24-Jun-2001 4:36pm Pay it Forward made me cry. |
| callen610 | (reply to SueBee) posted 25-Jun-2001 9:09pm She WAS perfect for the part. It was quite silly and obviously unrealistic, but I really enjoyed it. A good "popcorn" movie. (I can't wait for Planet of the Apes to come out.....) |
| SueBee | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 26-Jun-2001 12:48am Oh good, I'm not the only one...I was actually sobbing!! I was kind of mad that they made me cry so hard, but it sure was a fabulous story. |
| SueBee | (reply to callen610) posted 26-Jun-2001 12:52am All I ask of a movie is that it entertain me, so it'll probably be worth watching. I'll probably wait until it comes out on video though. |
| callen610 | (reply to SueBee) posted 26-Jun-2001 10:19am Yeah - movies are SO expensive now. $8.25 around here (New York). |
| Maarten | (reply to callen610) posted 26-Jun-2001 6:44pm That's not that bad. Here it's about $6.50 and The Netherlands is one of the cheapest countries in Europe. |
| SueBee | (reply to callen610) posted 27-Jun-2001 12:11am I think I paid $7.50 last time I went. That's at a fancy new Lowe's Cineplex, which is the only place around. |
| Terry_2000 | posted 6-Aug-2001 1:14pm I probably go see movies more alone than I do with friends. Sometimes you just wanna watch the thing without having to be bothered with "do you want anything?" or "what did I miss?". I am a huge film buff, and that is like the only place I can literally get the chance to enjoy a movie without somebody bugging me about it. |
