I barely drink, but am somewhat fond of gin and tonics, and good margueritas.
To whomever made the survey, I'd like to suggest that when you make surveys like this you have an option of "I don't WHATEVER" or "This doesn't apply to me"; it helps when you're considering the proportions of people who answer in particular ways. |

I supplement Captain Morgan's spiced rum whenever possible. |

I like schnapps (Peachtree!), and I also like Asti. That's about it. Most alcohol is pretty yucky. |

Definitely depends on the situation, but beer makes for a good general-purpose beverage. |

What I prefer varies a fair amount with my mood and the venue, so I picked the one I generally like best. |

Gin and Tonics, Margaritas, and Sangria in the summer, and coffee with sambuca or bailey's in the winter... I've also recently discovered that when a martini is constructed REALLY WELL, I actually like them quite a bit! Unfortunately, it seems very hard to find really well done ones. Although I've tried, I just do not seem to get the beer thing, so I leave it to my friends to enjoy. I do like hard cider an awful lot, though. Hm, I guess i wish I could have picked more than one... |

When I drank, I preferred Bailey's Irish Cream. I fondly recall way back when that we enjoyed drinks called "country drivers" - we weren't allowed to have refrigerators in our dorms so we mixed vodka with country time lemonade from a mix. No muss, no fuss. |

It depends on my mood and the occasion. I'll have wine if I'm just spending a little time with people....amaretto on the rocks when I want to catch a relaxing buzz...scotch and water if I'm on a mission. |

Mmmm, beer. |

Nothing like a shot of Jose Cuervo Tequila and a slice of lime to get me goin'....! Aye yaye yaye!!! A close runner up is Avalanche (Peppermint Schnapps) or Afterschock. As for beer, I stick with the latin concoctions; Corona is my style. :) |

Hard cider. |

All of the above with the exception of wine coolers. It depends on what I'm in the mood for. I =tend= to prefer white wine to red, if it's not with a meal. I prefer Akvavit to vodka for 'snaps'. I'm not fond of sweet mixed drinks. I am something of a beer snob. |

if is interpreted to be very very very rarely. ANYTHING alcoholic tastes poorly, and I always taste alcohol in stuff that has it (even the stuff where is it mixed right so 'you can't taste it at all'). I think I had a beer last fall sometime.. I'll usually go for a rum and coke or some other 'hard' liquor. beer is okay on occasion, but more than one bottle is nauseating (sometimes even one bottle is nauseating if I am not in the mood). |

Vodka is my favorite. |

Roughly in order: beer (preferably a thick, chewy porter), red wine (preferably merlot), scotch. **phi: Having never heard of tej, I went and poked about on the 'net a bit and found only that it is an ethiopian "honey wine". How is it different from mead? Is it like a metheglin? melomel? pyment? braggot? cyser? Something else entirely? |

Where's 'other'? I like cider and mead and tej and port, and these account for a fair fraction of the alcohol I drink. I also drink (good) beer and scotch and various gin drinks (martini, gin and tonic, gin rickey); since it's summer the gin drinks are the most common lately.
daver: tej differs from mead in that it is hopped. It's pretty similar in taste to the one braggot I've had. |

- guinness, harp, bass

I used to drink rum & coke a lot, and at bars I'll drink Harp or other "light beer", but now that I'm running a wine web page (plug plug wine.miningco.com) I've been sampling a lot of different wines. I love White Zinfandel (I know, bad) and ports. ***Jody: yes!! When we were in Ireland all I drank was "Bailey's on ice" because it was the only way I could keep up, drink for drink, with the guys there (who were drinking pints of Guinness). They got very upset if you refused to participate in a round. |

Mattias...I used to love those! Cuba Libres were my drink from the time I was 15 or so until I switched to dietCoke in college and couldn't take the sweetness anymore. |
| Mattias | | posted 25-Jan-1999 10:23am |
I prefer CokeClasic (I think it's the same as we have here in Sweden?) in my Cuba Libre. I really doesn't drink or eat much diet stuff. As I have studied pharmaceutical chemical engineering. I have realized that I don't want to eat to many "chemicals". (Always reading ingredients on everything I buy.)
I do drink other things to Red Bull and vodka (a bit patriotic often choosing Absolut) for example. |
| hunter | | posted 25-Jan-1999 12:44pm |
Oh, certainly...I wasn't suggesting rum & dietCoke...that's gross. But once I started drinking dietCoke regularly, I found regular Coke just too sweet and no longer enjoyed it in anything, either. So I switched from Cuba Libres to Southern Comfort sours, Dubonnet, wine, etc. |
| Mattias | | posted 25-Jan-1999 1:17pm |
I think the cropy diet things they have here in Sweden are all to sweet (Yes, they do taste sweeter than Coke.) It's hard to get dietCoke. Most of the time the diet version is TAB or PepsiMAX. And yes, dietCoke and rum is gross (I have tested it myself). |

It depends on my mood. I like beer (generally ales or thicker/darker), wine (typically red wines), mixed cocktails (generally sweet stuff like margaritas, I've recently become a fan of gin & tonic), and hard liquor (single malt whiskey). |
