You see whatI mean about them being palettes? Theres a constant thread running through them with which you can get a feel for what there other sentiments are. |
| juliw | posted 14-Jun-2001 6:08pm There are so many others I like: Elton John, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston... Chrissy Hynde, the lead singer of The Pretdnders is from my hometown of Akron, Ohio. Remember that song where she sings I went back to Ohio, and my city was gone. There was no train station and no downtown. Sad, but true. |
| confetti | (reply to Kris13) posted 14-Jun-2001 6:26pm It's actually not so much of a deal. I know she's really "huge and shiny" right now, but before, she was just a slightly cool Colombian chick who came to play here (Costa Rica) on some really shindig, crappy tours. Some of them were even in supermarkets, for Chrissakes. And my dad is this big cheese who's involved with the music industry in Central America, so naturally I met up with her a couple of times, and we had a few good conversations. She spent a week with us at our beach house once, too. |

| Kris13 | (reply to confetti) posted 14-Jun-2001 11:15pm Oh my god! I could die right about now! Well...not really. It's just that i really admire her music because the words make so much sense. So are you from Costa Rica? I went there last year...well only the air port...i was on my way to Guatemala. |
| Maarten | (reply to confetti) posted 15-Jun-2001 4:36am I know I'm lucky! |
| bill | (reply to Iseult) posted 15-Jun-2001 8:35am I actually only really like 2-3 of Kate Bush's albums. I didn't like her last one, which was a long time ago. There are parts of "The Hounds of Love" (really "The Ninth Wave", a subset of that album) that have a way of tapping right into my subconscious (hard to explain). |
| Brian | posted 15-Jun-2001 9:44am Man, do I really have to pick only five? This is gonna be tough! By artist I take that to mean you exclude non-performing composers. That would make the list even more difficult. Aarrrrggghhhh. There are so many to choose from! In alphabetical order: Celine Dion, Al Jareaux, Billy Joel, Luis Miguel, Eros Ramazotti. |

| Kristal_Rose | (reply to dlp34) posted 15-Jun-2001 1:21pm Well, I graduated in 81. Somehow though I considered your entire genre as something for strung-out viet-nam vets. In spite of the stage power cloud of mystic hope it had a cavelike undercurrent of hopelessness for me and kinda bored me. I was listening to punk, new wave, classical, and experimental at the time which was few peoples cup of tea. Stuff like Lene Lovich, the Dead Kennedy's, Joy division, X, or 60's like syd barret era Floydd. ..anything really different I could get my hands on. |

| dlp34 | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 15-Jun-2001 4:06pm Ok, I'm not that old. I graduated in '86. I was mostly into metal, but I enjoyed the harder pop bands, such as Journey, Asia, Styx, etc. But, I never really got into Led Zeppelin or Hendrix, or those that were more associated with the 70's. Styx, Van Halen, Genesis, etc. may have all started in the 70's, but the albums I enjoy were those that they released in the 80's. What else was I going to listen to then, disco or new wave? I can extend my list further to include the Eagles, Journey, the Police. I mean the great music goes on and on. |

| Zang | (reply to dlp34) posted 16-Jun-2001 12:18am Your list looked like something from most of my classmates in high school. I graduated in 1980. Ozzy wasn't solo yet, but same gist. When I was in school metal was king. I find it really amusing that kids today seem to think that the 70s was all about disco. The only guys that pretended to like disco just did it because they thought they could get laid. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to dlp34) posted 16-Jun-2001 1:41am I was glad disco made a come back. I would have been ostracisized by punk import friends when I was a kid. The closest to mainstream I heavily followed was the talking heads. I was there 'psycho killer' to the very end. I was into Genesis, Eagles, and esp the Police though. I hate Hendrix, and found Journey sort of nauseating. I had a housemate that listened 24/7 to nothing bu Journey, Scorpions, Van Halen, and whoever did 'Rock Candy'. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to Zang) posted 16-Jun-2001 1:46am Oh yeah, I was way big on Kraftwerk too. Ah a news story reminds me, I did listen to a lot of Heart and Fleetwood Mac. |

| Cleo | (reply to ASB) posted 16-Jun-2001 3:16pm I loved your list.It was pretty close to mine.I had wanted to add the Doors,Pink Floyd,Rolling Stones,Eric Clapton,Van Halen & Elton John but the survey creator had stipulated (5) favorites & that made it really difficult for me to include ALL my favorites. But if you look back at my entry, you'll see that I managed to still include five more than was acceptable.Only because I REALLY wasn't sure if it was asking SINGLE artist or GROUP artist. But,yes our music taste a pretty much similar.I wish someone would do one where we could list as many as 10 or 15 that would have me covered. |
