Generally, I prefer the later albums, as they were expirementing more, and the result is more unique. Abbey Road was still collaborative enough that the result is still quite good, but by the time Let It Be was being recorded, the group was dissolving, and the album suffers as a result (though not by that much!)

For anyone who's into the Beatles (and other classic rock of that era), let me recommend Lew Shiner's book, _Glimpses_, about a guy who somehow channels various "lost" albums. Nifty book and it really captures 90's nostalgia for that time.

The white album, but Abbey Road is a really close second.

I was never a Beatles' fan, but as I get older and the new music gets worse, I get more fond of them & find myself humming along with their old songs on the oldies station. I honestly don't know one album for the ever although I do know most of the title songs.

I watched the Beatles the first time they were on Ed Sullivan. We pretty much grew up together. I am having a hard time even thinking of a song they did that I didn't like. Naming a favorite album?? Forget it!

I guess I just don't like the Beatles enough to have a favorite album.

I usually evoke shocked responses when I admit I just don't like them very much.

I've never listened to any Beatles albums, probobly cause I'm too young.

I couldn't pick. I really really love the White Album, Sgt. Pepper's, Abbey Road, and Revolver... but they're all really amazing. OK, so next question - why do I only OWN one of them (Sgt. Pepper)?
* Bill - might have to do that myself... 'cept I'd probably use Amazon.com and just succumb to the book-buying urge as well...

I'm too young. I like the beatles and all, but I can't exactly claim a favorite.

I have to pick Sgt. Pepper's because it's just one of those "every song is great" kind of albums. I think the White Album is in many ways better (with higher peaks of greatness), but there are songs on it that I just don't dig at all, so it's hard to listen to the whole thing straight through.
* FYI, I just went to CDNow and bought a couple Beatles albums.
* Sgt Pepper and Rubber Soul or was it Revolver..

Rubber Soul is the only one I own, and I love it, but there are probably others I would like just as well.

I've never owned a Beatles album, and I am not familiar enough with the discography to know which songs are on which albums.

There's a prize for the first moron who can't figure out that "for whatever reason, I don't have a favorite Beatles album" includes "I've never heard a Beatles album" and "I hate the Beatles" and "I've never heard of the Beatles".

It was only after I submitted this survey that I realized how much trouble I would have answering it. It's a toss-up between Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Abbey Road. Damn. I think I have to go with Rubber Soul, but I have the feeling I'll end up changing my answer later.

***bill: Which ones?

***I'm gratified to see that Sgt. Pepper's is not winning this survey. As historically important as it is for its breakthroughs in production and arrangement, I consider it a relatively weak Beatles album, musically speaking. It is, however, the best George Martin album.

***lisashea, reality: Try www.gemm.com and search for Yellow Submarine with the "Best Price Only" box unchecked. You'll find about 15-20 retailers who have the CD available, most of them in stock. The search also came up with LPs and cassettes, as well as a laserdisc of the film for $250. GEMM is an awesome site, btw...

White Album. My dad collects 50s and 60s albums and has multiples of them all.

Wow, Yellow Submarine (the movie) isn't on CDNOW or Amazon! Nor on reel.com. Amazing.

Ron: VHS MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE :)

Did you know Yellow Submarine was a Bible Story? Ah, someone has the movie: a trade? Reality: Doesn't he say he'll copy his tape for $20?

I don't think I have any actual albums, I just have collections, or anthologies. **ron2112: I was just looking for the movie. ***Lisashea: interesting, but it is trade, I don't have anything he is looking for. *sigh* L: yeah, but I want to go through a 'more legal' venue first if I can.. I have the site written down though.. thanks8)
