Type I: White: always burns, and rarely tans (and when it does, it turns yellow).

I almost picked Type I but then I realize that I do get a little bit of a tan on my arms and my face. It's just that my tanned skin is usually still much lighter than most people even if they don't have a tan! It's very frustrating, too. I have to wear tons of sun screen and I still have to be careful about being out in the sun too long.

Do you mean that different parts of your body react differently to the sun? I think that's probably true for most people. The parts that get less exposure are probably more sensitive. That's why I was torn between two types also.

Type II. I was out in the sun today with one of those awful SPF 8 "Tanning Oils" on, which, um, basically just cook your skin. I got a wonderful shade of magenta. I got distracted because I was playing with my Game Boy, so I was out there for an hour. But at least I won't be laughed at so much in P.E. What I wouldn't give to be one of those people with lovely, golden skin!

Before my hair took on a redish tink I was Type V.
Kinda sucks now. I really miss my tan. Now I feel like an albino.

Very handsome! Don't feel bad. Red hair runs in my family, which of course means very fair skin. As I'm getting older, my hair is turning white (which is common with redheads) instead of gray. I have way more white hair than you do.

Well, then your answer makes even more sense than I thought. I don't know anything about vitiligo. Has your hair always had the white patch, or did it happen gradually?

That link isn't working, and I couldn't get to your homepage either. Is it down?

Vitiligo means that certain parts of my skin doesn't have pigment, so it's white. Hair growing out those areas is also white. Luckily I only have it on my legs and the spot on my forehead. I have nieces who also have it on their arms and hands.

What link do you mean? I only posted the picture, there's no link included.

It burns rarely, tans gradually, but I'm the whitest middle-class teenage computer geek you'll ever chance to meet. Stupid sunlight and it's always being bright and hurting of the eyes...sorry, recluse geek taking over for a sec. But seriously, when I DO go out, in the summer and such, I don't burn almost at all, and I usually neglect to put on sunscreen. For the last six or seven summers that I remember, I haven't burned ONCE. When I was a kid, a few times. But I can't even remember those very well. And I tan fine. I don't tan very often mind you, but that's because it usually leaves a weird looking tan line where my collar is. But yeah...I'm white, but I almost never burn. So, to repeat, burns rarely, tans gradually.

None of these seem to describe mine. It's fairly light, burns quickly, then turns to tan and tans easily. I guess, maybe, that's Type III.
