I do have an addictive personality. I am addicted to cigarettes, chocolate, and coffee and probably a few more things. It's also why I won't touch alcohol and never done drugs.

I have a food addiction that causes me constant shame and heartache not to mention health problems.

I'm pretty sure it runs in the family. My dad was a heavy smoker, an alcoholic and compulsive gambler. My sister used to use pot & coke fairly heavily, but not any more-but she still smokes (regular cigarettes). I'm addicted to the Internet & SC.

nicotine and caffeine are addictive substances. You don't have to have an addictive personality in order to become addicted to them. Food, sex, gambling are not physiologically addictive... if you tend to get caught up in them and not be able to stop, then you're exhibiting addictive behaviour.

No, absolutely not. I smoked cigarettes a few times in high school and never got hooked, I never got too much into drinking or caffeine. Many people in my family are addicted to gambling and I have never had any problems at all.
I consider myself VERY lucky to never have any of those problems.

I am addicted to food, and sometimes I drink too much alcohol. This is why I would never try cocaine even though I'm very curious about it. From what I've heard, I don't think I'd be able to do it just once.

No, but I could. My family, left and right, are full of addictions. Either I was lucky and missed the gene or I was able to steer clear.
