Hell yes, of course i'd only feed on criminals and such.

I'm all over that, even though it might make me incompatible with my ideal mate, Buffy.

I don't like the taste of blood. Also I get really depressed when I don't get enough sun.

I can't stand the sight of blood -- makes me nauseous.

while I enjoy the taste of blood now and again (my own, I haven't tried anyone else's)... I wouldn't want to be a vampire.. I'd be quite content as a nocturnal human. after all, I already have a mild allergy to sunlight (headaches.. sneezing..) but the option to go out in the day, or be awake all the time is too important.

That's a toughie. I sure seems neat (as long as I didn't have to kill people). I think it would get pretty old after 50 years or so. After 200 years, I'd probably be donning my trunks and heading to the beach (ie. ending it all).
*** oh yeah, I forgot about garlic. Forget it, no way.

Deny. I like daylight *and* nighttime.

Given a choice between being inducted into the fang club or being food, I think I could deal with being a bloodsucker. Honestly, though, I subscribe to the notion that vampirism is more of a curse than a romantic notion. Lycanthropy... now that's where it's at... who the heck makes silver bullets anymore?

I decline, for two major reasons: the classic vampire legends imply immorality (yuck) and a need to harm people in order to go on living (also yuck).

Vampires are cool. Just ask any of the millions of Anne Rice fans and Vampire the Masquerade players.

First off, I wouldn't want to be 15 forever (assuming that you stay looking the same age as when you became one). And second, I love bright, warm, sunny hikes along the beach.

**jjg: I love reading Ann Rice, but I wouldn't want to be a vampire or one of the Mayfair witches.

Hmmm...I can't decide with what's given. Do I have to kill people to survive or will a little bleeding suffice? Would I be essentially immortal? Is there a lot of political (and physical) infighting amongst vampires?
**ron2112: Ooh, damn, I forgot about garlic. I'd rather give up a shot at immortality than garlic.
**bpersei: SPF5000 sunscreen?

There was a time, when Glen, Nick and I after seeing "The Lost Boys" for the third or fourth time in college would have done it in a second. But now, I'm involved in so many cool things in my life - it would suck to give it all up. Perhaps, if all my friends were doing it and I could still live much like I do now (and I could be a "good" vampire, only sucking the blood of criminals and bad people).
Wow, "Lost Boys" was a great movie, here are some quotes:
Sleep all Day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die.
"You'll never grow old Michael, and you'll never die...But you must feed..."-David.
"My own brother, a gosh darned crap sucking vampire! You wait 'till mom finds out buddy!!"-Sam.

killing doesn't appeal to me, nor does life without the sun.

I'd rather not be a vampire. I enjoy the sun.

ok...have to stay out of the sun or die....have to find someone's neck to suck on being sure to have my face deform and my eyes turn yellow first (now that's attractive)....if you're careful, live like this forever......or have, while it may be mundane, a relatively "normal" life where you could run out for ice cream any time you got the urge. Tough call.

Not so much 'rather not say' as can't say. In most vampire lore there is an element of seduction or of force, so either way your 'choice' is (usually) not much more than accepting fate...

I'd deny it. I don't WANT to live forever. Heck, I don't want to live past forty. Plus, though the thought of all that POWER is tempting, and I don't mind the blood thing (too much), I have a conscience that says, "You can't hurt anyone that bad and you know it, so you check Deny right NOW!" And, not to mention, (re: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which I have noticed, many of you recognize) who wants to be chased around by a teenager with a stick anyway??

Oh yeah, nothing would thrill me more than being forever damned to feast on the blood of the living, never again to see the light of day or taste garlic. Not to flame or anything, but isn't this kind of a dumb question? Maybe I'm just out of touch...

***Wow, I guess I am out of touch (at this moment the split is just about even). Apparently it's not such a dumb question after all. I can't believe there are people this stupid in the world.

***seven: Back off buddy, Buffy's mine...

***RatQueen: That particular teenager with a stick? I'd like that very much, thank you.

I'm relieved to see that most of my friends won't be out to suck my blood any time soon. I also find it interesting, because I suspect that a lot more of them might have accepted five years ago, and I do note that the average age of the yes-votes is a fair bit lower than the nay-sayers.
