Don't think, just do this: Clasp your hands together, fingers interlocking, like you're patiently waiting. Now, which thumb is on top, right or left?

VotesAnswer
37My right thumb.
31My left thumb.
2For some weird reason, I can't answer that. (Give reason.)
0I'm missing one or more thumbs/hands.

I wonder if there's a correlation between this and handedness? Left thumb, right handed.

It feels wrong whenever I try it. When I clasp my hands with either thumb on top it feels bad, less so with my left on top. What I usually do is have my finger-tips touch and the heels of my hands touch-sort of like I'm praying..

But I was hanging upside down when I did it...

I did it without thinking, and the left thumb is on top. When I switch and put my right thumb on top, it doesn't feel right. I am right handed.

Right thumb, left handed. But when I try it with my feet, my left toe is on top.

My right thumb was on top. (They say that's a sign of genius)

I can't answer because my thumbs are steepled(the prints are touching), neither is over the other. **as a followup, daver wandered by and asked me to demonstrate.. if it matters, the index finger of my left hand ends up as the topmost finger, but the thumbs are still steepled.. *** I am missing the point

When practicing yoga poses that require clasped hands, it is important to switch the clasping, so as not to habitually favor just one way.

Left, and I'm left-handed (which of course, means I am somewhat ambidextrous in this right-dominated world!)

i'm left thumbed, and right handed....should there be a correlation?

***ok, apparantly little if any correlation. as of 8/31/98, 5 users have same thumbness and handedness, 7 have opposite.
