No but some of the designer labels are of better quality

I don't really care about the name. If the clothing is of sufficient quality and it fits well then it's worth paying for that. Sometimes those qualities are associated with designer names.

Absolutely not! And if the name is emblazoned across the clothing like a billboard, there is no way I would wear it. I hate that crap!

No, under any circumstances. But I still do that.

Only on certain clothes. Like when you need running shoes, you know that your feet wont stink like if you buy the ones that are $9.99.

In most of the other cases - no.

No. It's worth it to pay extra for better quality if you have to, or for a design that you like that isn't for sale cheaper. But not just for the label.

No. I buy designer clothing because it is usually more beautiful and better-made. Especially Ralph Lauren...it's hard to find me out of RL these days.

Yes, but only in the gym. I could care less about prices, because my folks are loaded, but people were mean to me at the "Muscle Grinder" for five months before I realized that they didn't care for my attire..."Nikke" sneakers and "Adidis" pants, both Latin American rip-offs of the real thing. So I went to buy the real threads and now I can hog the treadmill as long as I want...just a little sample of how superficial people can be. * smile *

No, unless it is of better quality and will last longer. I make 3.00$ shirts from a dollar store last MUCH longer than most of my friends shirts they buy with Tommy slapped all over it.

Hell no. If I'm going to be a walking billboard, the company ought to pay me.

I feel sorry for those who place their self-worth on their clothing labels.

I like RL, but Parasuco is my favorite. I can't wait until they design more clothes.

I have a baseball Jersey I bought in 93, its an authentic one and compared to the replicas that sell for cheaper its still in great condition today and I've been wearing and washing it pretty often over the years. Sometimes its worth paying the extra to get the "designer" versions.

Absolutely not. I have never paid extra for a designer label, and I never will. It says a lot about self esteem, and wanting to be accepted in society, because for some people, being in the 'in' crowd is the only way they feel accepted and loved. People need to learn that it is not about the clothes they wear, the makeup, the shoes ... it is about who they are. If people don't like someone because they don't wear the designer labels, then those people don't deserve to have that somebody as a friend.

But that's the name of the game...Make an ordinary piece of clothing & put a label with your name on it.

It was a joke. I have no tattoos...yet. So, where are your tattoos? Have you pierced anything lately?
Cleo
(reply to Brian) posted 29-May-2001 8:54pm
One little tat on the side of each of my big toes, one each on the inside & outsides of my ankles, one on the inside of my left middle finger,& one between my breast.Only my ears are pierced.Body piercing really aren't my cup of green tea. But,I love tats.& so does (I think)Sue Bee.I would like to get a red & green Chinese Dragon before the year is over.

This hurts just to hear about it. You're braver than I. What was the motivation(s) to get the tattoos?

And...ahh...(blush)...do you have pictures of the one on your...ahh...(blush)...ahh...toes...yes, that's it...yes, your toes.

The one on the inside of my middle finger was the first tat that I had rapped on myself & the one that hurt more than any of the others. It's a 3/4 inch cross. The reason why I put it there was because my dad totally despised tats,& so I became braver & rapped the next cluster of 3 tats on my left hand between my wrist & thumb. When he saw that,he said "If God had wanted you to have tattoos he would have put them on you when you were born!" I shot back with "If that were true God would have also put clothe on me too!"With that he gave me this real disgusted look,& needless to say I ended up taking the cluster of 3 off.The ones on my toes are names of my two best friends, which I had also rapped myself when I was 16.The names are "Debbie" & my husband (who I've been with for 29 yrs.)"David" The others are professional rapped.A 2inch "Wooodstock"A 1 inch virgo,& 2 one inch letters.

Too insane. Good for you. Excuse my awe, but twenty nine years with the same SO. That is as impressive as the tattoos. The wife and I only have a 16 year history, and there are days...need I go on.

Maybe what we need are tattoos instead of another kid! You'll have to excuse my ignorance, what do you mean by "rapped"?
Cleo
(reply to Brian) posted 29-May-2001 10:39pm
(laughing out loud) 16 years are a major achievement in it's self!!Consider yourselves blessed many times over. No,no,no,tattoos is not what a healthy relationship needs.Peace,Love & Harmony would probably be more satisfying for you both. "Rappped" is an old slang for the act of putting the tattoo on(with a needle wrapped several times with thread dipped in INDIA ink) You'd never know unless you ask.Thats not ignorance.Ignorance is failure to not ask & not wanting to learn.

I'm still learning a lotta things. Mostly how to be a better person, husband and father. That's like like enough to learn, but I am curious about all the world and the world to come.

You might have noticed from my other rantings and ravings that I am a dedicated Christian, which has played a very health part in my maturation over the last few years.

I still secretly long to get my ear pieced, but am afraid I'll do the wrong one. I hear that one pierced ear is for "pitchers" and the other for "catchers". I really don't wanna play that kind ball at all, so I gotta be careful. * wink *

(reply to Brian) posted 29-May-2001 11:52pm
Ahhhh yes,I remember seeing some of your responses now.I too am a firm believer in my Christian up bringing. Also I believe that you too are a dedicated Christian. However,I feel that you may still be a baby Christian whom God is not quiet done with in shaping & molding yet.I too am a "baby Christian" & am still in the process of the listening & learning faze.Tho at time I may not share the same feeling on some of the issues discussed here at SC,I try not to judge or offend anyone,no matter what their feelings or beliefs.I prefer to apologize & bow out gracefully.I come to this site with an open mind & an open heart. To listen & to learn what others have to offer.I'm sure at times, they are doing the same in return with me.That alone takes an abundance of patience & a wealth of understanding.I feel that one can learn much in this life about their brothers & sisters if only they would listen, learn, love,be slow to anger & even slower to judge one another.Let everyone have an opinion, their entitled to it,but then move on.Perhaps by just leaving a happy face.At least that way the animosity will have room to subside. When it comes down to it,it really is all irrelevant.GOD has the last word no matter what.Right? As for your delima with selecting which ear to pierce,I don't think it really matters.Sometimes when I wear one earring someone always says"Hey Cleo, you lost one of your earring." Then I gotta explain to them that that's the way I left my house, with only the one earring.Go figure.
