| jjg | posted 27-Jul-1998 6:10pm Retail, but not entirely. I work for the mailorder section of a retail company in customer service. I would say which one, but it is a hated company. I'll let Reality and Daver tell. |
| romkey | posted 27-Jul-1998 6:38pm I don't really work, but when I pretend to it's technology. |
| Mimi | posted 27-Jul-1998 8:54pm How about information? Isn't that an industry? Actually, I work with and maintain computers, their software and our database (Technology), do children's programming (Education) in a public library (Government) and one day a week I work the front desk serving the public (Service). |

| hunter | posted 27-Jul-1998 10:16pm We usually fall under "Professional Services," since what we do is analogous to legal counsel (intellectual property consulting). |

| emily | posted 28-Jul-1998 9:02pm I guess you'd say prostitution. I work for a bank that pretty much f*cks the customers (employees too.) ***jen...are YOU the one creating all those lawyers out there??!!!! |
| gilly | posted 29-Jul-1998 10:27am Lots. I'm temping right now. Yesterday it was at Cambridge Hospital, today at SmartRoute, tomorrow, who knows. |
| steve | posted 29-Jul-1998 2:25pm Basic biological research--I can't really make it fit into any of these categories. ***ron2112--you don't work in the technical writing industry; you do technical writing for, I assume, a company, and that company has some kind of product, and what kind of product it is defines the industry. If it's, say, some kind of computer product then you are, in fact, in the technology industry. ***It would indeed. Do you, or are you trying to avoid answering the question? |

| ron2112 | posted 29-Jul-1998 4:46pm I can't imagine which of these choices would encompass Technical Writing, so I chose "one you forgot". I suppose it could be Technology, but isn't everything technology in some way? ***steve: How do you know I don't run a tech document company that does contract work? That would put me in the technical writing industry, would it not? ***Okay, you got me, I was avoiding the question. |
