| daver | posted 26-Jul-1998 8:53am Extremely. I spend a relatively large amount of time examining decisions I have made, either to convince myself that I made the right choice or determine what I should have done. |
| Mimi | posted 26-Jul-1998 10:57am It's unfortunate when we feel we have to be perfect, but we are products of our upbringing. My self-criticism ranges from needing to lose a few extra pounds to leaving out a comma. I also am very, very bad about remembering times I really screwed up & I can almost make myself sick to my stomach worrying about it. I tell myself to just do the best I can and forget all the small stuff, but it doesn't work quite that way. |
| lisashea | posted 27-Jul-1998 11:20am A bit. I always want to try to do better, but I accept my limitations and the fact that I can't always succeed. |
| jjg | posted 27-Jul-1998 2:44pm I suck. |
| Resy | posted 27-Jul-1998 2:50pm in some areas, more than others |
| hunter | posted 27-Jul-1998 10:25pm I'm not sure if you mean "are you down on yourself a lot?" or "do you critique yourself regularly?" I spend a fair amount of attention on myself, analyzing my motives, my opinions, my actions, my feelings. I don't tend to give myself a lot of negative feedback (i.e., guilt) because I don't find it productive. I think I'm fairly even-handed with myself. I try to look at the good and bad honestly and encourage myself toward what I consider good. |
| ron2112 | posted 28-Jul-1998 8:21am Damn, I can't believe I picked "yes, somewhat"...what the hell is wrong with me?!? |
| kadai | posted 28-Jul-1998 6:42pm Self criticism keeps me honest. |
| jzp | posted 29-Jul-1998 6:56am where's "yes, violently"? |
| bill | posted 29-Jul-1998 1:20pm I am extremely, but this is often a good thing - it generally makes me a better person (at least in my own eyes). Although, sometimes I can be critical with myself in bad ways and it keeps me up at night over likely small issues and eats away at my soul. Oops, I forgot to add the "...and I often resort to self-flagellation" option. |
| glen | posted 29-Jul-1998 1:52pm I'm frequently self-critical to a huge degree. And I really hate myself when I do that. |
| dab | posted 6-Aug-1998 11:25am I used to be a lot harder on myself and I think I did better then. But I've gotten old and lazy. |
| elijahblue | posted 19-Aug-1998 2:53am what is the difference between "rather" and "somewhat"? To me, they mean roughly the same thing... |
| reality | posted 19-Aug-1998 9:41am *elijablue: rather is more than somewhat. somewhat (for me) being used as 'on occasion' and rather meaning 'fairly often or muchly' |
