Clean my book room, the closet and the filing cabinets. Make some photo albums, sort through my daughter's clothes, buy things for the bathroom and bookshelves for the living room, sort through the toys and put everything together that goes together. I'm hoping that making lists here might inspire people (including myself) to do the stuff on their lists.

I keep meaning to get started on a notebook full of ideas of things to do this summer. We talk about going places and doing things, and then we end up forgetting about a lot of our ideas until winter rolls around again. I'm determined to start writing down these ideas and gathering information (hours of operation for places we want to visit, driving directions, etc.) so that when we have some free time and appropriate weather, we can pick something from the notebook and go do it.

I have about 4 months of post-it notes (dozens) each with several notes. Now some of these are simple lines like the title of a record I want to acquire, but very many are tasks like write software, plant a garden, finish a stone sculpture, write a book, consult with or form agencies, prototype mind-matter nano-crystallography, wash my new goodwill wardrobe, buy harmonicas for all the neighbor kids, manufacture products, make elaborate gifts for people, explore faiths, dye my hair turquoise and violet, design another house, learn alternative music scales...
Most of it has gone on hold this month while I've started a new business selling vintage viewmaster reels. A couple days ago I was just added to the LA metro board, and that's going to yet one more full time job amongst dozens.
I keep meaning to enter all my notes into the computer for prioritization, but haven't even had time for that. There are probably 1200 to do projects already listed in my computer.
I get around to a bit of it at a time, rotating all the arts & sciences and such every few weeks.

Almost everything everyone else mentioned is on my list too, starting new notebooks, fixing my bike (I commute in low gear for time being), finish books, work on websites, clean house, organise digitize reprint post & distribute 23 years worth of personal photos.
I feel like I can say "you name it, it's on my to do list".

Most of those too are on my list. The last cat pole is rather shredded. The pictures and records will take some work. Don't forget sewing buttons, washing the old dishes, redecorating the porch plants, getting rid of the bicycles old lamps & grungy pillows, doing something with all the old cards & awards (going through them and just putting them back, of course), getting rid of unwanted books, scrubbing the window sills...
You'll be glad to have it done. Pick out some really good music and hor d'ouevres for the occasion.

(reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 9-Jun-2001 2:08pm
(Laughing softly)Yes,I know what you mean!!The pictures ALONE will take a two week vacation to organize, even more perhaps. That's probably the reason why I've procrastinated on that project for so long, because of the inevitable.Oh,forget it!! I'll just do it when I retire some day, then I'll have all the time in the world.Oh my gosh,I just went over your list again & saw the sewing of the buttons & the getting rid of the bicycles. It's almost as if you could be my next door neighbor & was peeking over my fence.

I really do need to track down the PACK RATS ANONYMOUS organization.

I live in a single room (with Bath, Kit, & Hall). I couldn't move in here if it weren't for years of experience packing things like a jig-saw puzzle, and labelling it all like file cabinets. My mom has shelves of jars and boxes all separating various rocks, seaweeds, farics, etc. My collection went much further with wires, speakers, gears, etc. The basic idea is that anything can be used as raw material for a painting, sculpture, impromptu appliance, or whatever. I've given up most of my sculpting and Swiss Family Robinson manufacturing ani it's considerably cut my collection down. Learning to give away things that have outgrown their use I am still working on.
