That syrup peaches and pears come in. I hate drinking. I like to go to bars though, because it gives me lots of ideas when I'm having writer's block. But only if they're clean. |

Lately I've been enjoying something called a "Brickston," which is gin with a hint of kaluha. The other old standard is gin and tonic, and godfather, which is scotch and amaretto. Oh, and coffee with sambuca. |

An oatmeal cookie is served as a shot. It has Goldschlager, Butterscotch schnapps and Bailey's irish cream in it. The ingrediants sound alittle gross but it tastes good. |
Strider | | posted 23-Apr-2001 12:33am |
I don't usually drink alcholic beverages, but one of the best one's I have tasted is a Long Island Iced Tea. The ingredients are 1/3 Rum, 1/3 Vodka, 1/4 Gin, 1/4 Tequila, Lemon Bar Mix, and Cola (Coke) to coulour of tea. |
| bcollins | | posted 23-Apr-2001 1:35am |

I don't have any one favourite. Among drinks I like are gin & tonic, Irish Coffee (even though I don't like whiskey in general), and White Russian. |
| Violet | | posted 23-Apr-2001 9:11am |
Amaretto sour. I love amaretto, but it's too sweet on its own. The sour mix balances it out. And for all you Martha Stewart types out there, sour mix is actually really easy to make from scratch at home. Oh yeah, and I also love rye and ginger. |

TeddyMiller | | (reply to Strider) posted 23-Apr-2001 1:44pm |
1/3 Rum, 1/3 Vodka, 1/4 Gin, 1/4 Tequila? That adds up to more than one. Is part of making the drink to have it overflow on the bar? |
| Violet |
3 cups water 3 cups sugar 2 cups fresh lemon juice 2 cups fresh lime juice
Combine water and sugar in large saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to boil. Cool syrup.
Mix syrup, lemon juice and lime juice in pitcher. Chill until cold. (Can be made 1 week ahead. Cover; keep chilled)
Makes 8 cups, but you can divide the recipe to make less. You can also adjust the sugar and lemon/lime juice to make it sweeter or tangier, or make it all lemon or all lime, if you prefer.

Ooo Brandy Alexanders...scary. I read a biography of John Lennon a few years ago, and apparently there was a contingent of rock stars in the early 70s that got onto a major Brandy Alexander kick. The book gave Ringo Starr's personal recipe: 7 parts brandy 2 parts creme de cacao 1 part heavy cream (Shake with ice, strain into a glass) I made the mistake of trying it. Tastes like chocolate milk; knocks you on your ass! (Of course I invited some friends over and made several pitchers of them...) |

I'm a Zima drinker now. First tried Wine coolers when they had "Spanada" wine, way back in the mid 70's.Experimented with many different types of drinks in those days. White Russian,Black Russian,Golden Cadillac,Grass Hoppers,Rusty Nails,Salty Dog etc, etc, etc. Used to drink "tiKILLya" till I broke my foot running down a flight of stairs. But what really made me stop drinking that was when someone told me that it would age me before my time.I began to get hooked on Scotch but decided to give it up because it made me a mean drunk. so now I have a ZIMA once in a while. |
