| BlueberryMuffin | posted 17-Apr-2001 3:48am I know nothing about him. |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 17-Apr-2001 8:29am I can't say I'm glad to see all the news stories connecting God with the armed services. |
| Biggles | posted 17-Apr-2001 8:36am He seems more like a puppet than he did during the election. I'm not as frightened by the thought of him "in power" as I was because it seems that he is not pulling the strings. I still think that he's a moron and that he should never have been asked to run. |
| Maarten | posted 17-Apr-2001 8:39am Even more stupid than I thought. Just think about the Kyoto treaty and how he handled the China crisis. |
| Pooh_Bear | posted 17-Apr-2001 8:54am My opinion of him is more hazy now than before. I never thought he was an awful guy, just maybe no the best one for the job. I think he handled the Chinese thing pretty well. Had he gone in and attacked, we might not have been able to get all the crew members home. I also thought it was pretty classy that he didn't go to their welcome home party. Otherwise, it would have been all about him and what he had to say about the Chinese. Other than that, I think he's keeping a low profile, which I think he had to do because of the election fiasco. |
| Enheduanna | posted 17-Apr-2001 8:55am Not really. I still think he's an idiot. |
| ASexyBabe | posted 17-Apr-2001 9:08am Nope, My ideas about him have been reinforced. He sucks!!! |
| dab | posted 17-Apr-2001 9:41am So far he's striking me as smarter than I expected; he seemed like such an idiot. The way he backed out of the Kyoto agreement appeared less than diplomatic but he only told the truth. Since even the proponents of the agreement say it was only symbolic anyway, wouldn't have touched global warming even if their models are correct, then maybe a clean break will turn out to have been a good idea. |
| cpierson | posted 17-Apr-2001 9:47am Yes, it has. I figured he'd be amoral about the environment; never expected he'd attack it so belligerently in his first 100 days. |
| jkiehart | posted 17-Apr-2001 10:02am I don't know. |
| Iseult | posted 17-Apr-2001 10:30am Even if I don't think that anyone would let an idiot like him rule anything, and that he is ordered what to do, he is still stupid idiot who's disgrace for USA. |
| Jemmy | posted 17-Apr-2001 11:39am *shrugs* I think he should stop spying on China. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 17-Apr-2001 1:52pm I feel he is a puppet-president. I feel pretty strongly that Dick Cheney & Colin Powell are running the country-especially during the affair with China. Some of his plans for the taxes and spending in general seemed to be throw-backs to Reagan & his father's terms in office-either he's copycatting them as he doesn't have any original thoughts of his own or listening to his father's advice. Either way, if these spending & tax plans go through, we will be in another recession, just as we were when Bush,Sr. was president. |
| Biggles | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 17-Apr-2001 3:38pm The recession seems pretty inevitable now doesn't it? I wish the UK had stronger ties with Europe so we could whether it better. |
| Biggles | (reply to Biggles) posted 17-Apr-2001 3:39pm I can't believe I spelled "weather" as "whether"........... It's like Biggles, Air Commodore! |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Biggles) posted 17-Apr-2001 3:44pm Yes. Our nation is quickly going down the toilet. Clinton's administration for all it's faults, had built the surplus up. Now I'm afraid Bush will succeed in wiping out all the surplus and probably do it in less than 4 years. He's like a kid in a candy store. He has no clue what it is like to be poor, unemployed or homeless as many Americans currently are. |
| Zang | posted 17-Apr-2001 3:45pm GASP! Another survey passed qualification with a reference to school work in the explanatory text! What's going on around here? Has the whole world gone topsy-turvy? I can't say that I have been paying much attention, but my initial impression was that he is a little more right wing than your run of the mill American President. The small amount of information which has come my way since then, seems to confirm this. That's about all I can report. I don't find American politics particularly fascinating, so I really don't go out of my way to follow it. |
| Biggles | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 17-Apr-2001 3:55pm Bush scares me. I'm glad I don't live in America because I'm not sure where I would turn. People say that we have no choice in politics in the UK but compared to the US............ I'd hate only having a choice of two right-wing parties (the Greens are left-wing though aren't they - just not really a true choice, I suppose) |
| mandy | posted 17-Apr-2001 10:31pm I hate him even more. |
| HareKrishna | posted 18-Apr-2001 12:03am It has got worse! |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Biggles) posted 18-Apr-2001 12:34am I know what you mean! I'm afraid that he might bring us into a war with Irag or China. |
| Strider | posted 18-Apr-2001 12:54am no i still think he is an idiot and i don't even live in the us |
| Biggles | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 18-Apr-2001 12:33pm China does seem like quite a worry at the moment. They're one of the few countries in the world that might risk not backing down to America - not sure if that's bravery or stupidity though! If Bush pushed them and they did something in retaliation then I think he would face more criticism from other countries than they would. France and Russia in particular are always quick to condemn US foreign affairs. |
| supplicant | (reply to Zang) posted 18-Apr-2001 10:12pm Not only that but it got only one HF vote and a dozen reasonables... and it's an essay! |

| Maarten | posted 19-Apr-2001 5:57am But then again... a country gets its President it deserves. |
| jettles | posted 20-Apr-2001 11:08pm no, i think he is as incompetent as i thought he would be. i guess i didn't think he would be so blatantly pro big business!! |
