| Twanger | posted 15-Jul-1998 3:42pm Kinda weird question, I know, but I read somewhere that 40% of people face away and 60% towards and I was curious how that statistic would be represented here. I always face away btw. (generally it's the way you're facing when you wash your hair) |
| Resy | posted 15-Jul-1998 3:46pm gad - the word 'orientation' makes me want to reply 'hetero' ... i can't stand the water in my face so I face away for the most, just turn around to rinse those parts on the front.. |
| Mark | posted 15-Jul-1998 3:57pm Orientation varies depending on which body part I'm washing at any given time. Typically, whatever is being washed is facing away from where the water is coming out, until it is time for it to get rinsed, when it gets faced toward where the water is coming out. |
| reality | posted 15-Jul-1998 4:15pm facing away.. after getting myself thoroughly wet, I face away, tilt the head back to rinse out shampoo, rotate to get the shampoo from my beard, then rotate back and soap up.. scrub, then face towards to rinse off the soap. I also tend to move forward a bit so less of me is getting showered, so that the soap on my back doesn't get rinsed before I scrub. does this qualify as TMI? |
| lisashea | posted 15-Jul-1998 4:24pm Facing the shower, except when I shave my legs when I face away :) |

| ron2112 | posted 15-Jul-1998 4:48pm A good followup survey might be "Do you wash yourself in the same order every time you shower (left arm, then chest, then right arm, etc.)". |
| hunter | posted 15-Jul-1998 4:49pm It depends entirely on what I'm doing, whether I want my hair in or out of the water, etc. |
| milktree | posted 15-Jul-1998 5:03pm I face away from the shower by default, but I face the shower when I'm washing my hair. My hair is quite long, and I like to be able to get shampoo/conditioner into all of it at once without it rinsing out part way through. |
| daver | posted 15-Jul-1998 7:31pm Obviously, I turn as I wash different pieces, but the default is facing the shower. **ron2112: It's been done...check the old surveys. **Atzilut: Ha! Fortunately, I'd just put my coffee down or my monitor would be in its caffeinated and sparking configuration. |
| bill | posted 15-Jul-1998 8:14pm Water in face very bad, I only do it for a second or two. Hot water on back very good, I do it for as long as possible. **Atzilut, you're my hero. |
| emily | posted 15-Jul-1998 8:17pm ron2112...I guess I'll check that survey too. Would that be under "Rituals" or "Anal Retentive"? |
| Jody | posted 16-Jul-1998 10:13am I have rosacea on my face, and it tends to get worse when my skin is exposed to extreme hot or cold, so I tend to face away. This wasn't always the case, though. |
| romkey | posted 16-Jul-1998 11:30am I face the shower most of the time, but I tend to face away from it while I rinse my hair. |
| gilly | posted 16-Jul-1998 11:43am Depends what part of my body I'm washing at the time, of course, but mostly back-to-shower when showering alone. (Showering with someone else always complicates things way too much - the world needs more double shower heads.) |
| doom | posted 16-Jul-1998 12:13pm I hate being constantly hit in the face with the spray. |
| Atzilut | posted 16-Jul-1998 3:05pm What orientation? gay of course. so to recap: Toilet: Lemarchand configuration Shower orientation: gay Television: deceased Bill: what did I do to deserve the downgrade form 'like a god' to merely 'a hero' Gilly: my g-d. You're right. |
| Timmi | posted 16-Jul-1998 10:48pm It depends on what part of my body I'm washing. |
| seven | posted 17-Jul-1998 10:10am I wash myself with a rag on a stick. |
| nbarone | posted 18-Jul-1998 11:33pm i am usually facing toward the shower, except when i rinse my hair. |
| lelle | posted 19-Jul-1998 5:05pm I have a hand shower, so wherever I spray it. In a wall showerhead situation, I turn to get whatever parts necessary. I rinse my hair with my back to the spray, though. |
| profesor | posted 22-Jul-1998 10:07am Depends on what I'm trying to wash at the time. |
| Artemis | posted 12-Aug-1998 2:32pm Facing and facing away from the shower, it depends. Never sideways though I don't know why.***seven: lol, my friend Erin says that all the time. |
| mross | posted 3-Feb-2007 3:33pm I like to turn around in the shower so the spray hits all parts of my body. |
