| ron2112 | posted 7-Jul-1998 2:46pm Damn...I can't think of one. |
| milktree | posted 7-Jul-1998 4:01pm raw peaches, sushi, water, watermelon. *** yes, it does assume that you like both chocolate and garlic. If you don't like either of these things, the answer is easy, everything! I'm sure if this is the case for you, you can think of some clever way of pointing out my error in creating the survey, there is a button for Obligitory Other Food. |
| Atzilut | posted 7-Jul-1998 4:32pm sushi is not improved by the addition of either chocolate or garlic |
| lisashea | posted 7-Jul-1998 4:39pm sushi :) Sheesh, other than that, I think I'm stumped. ***Sushi fans unite!! Check out my Boston-area Japanese restaurant reviews for where to get it in the Bay State ... |
| reality | posted 7-Jul-1998 5:37pm there is only one answer? this means one of three things. it was intended to confuse, the enterer made a mistake or there is an undocumented feature happening here. This also assumes the reader likes garlic. I like it in small amounts. my answer to this would be shrimp, cheerioes, orange juice, cantelope, green beans, tuna.. basically I could go on at length. ** milktree: heh, sorry. |
| dab | posted 7-Jul-1998 8:23pm clam chowder |
| zaruba | posted 7-Jul-1998 8:35pm most egg dishes, most fruits, desserts that have a specific flavor like coconut or lemon meringue pie, neither would be good with bread |
| seth | posted 7-Jul-1998 9:01pm Jello. |
| RatQueen | posted 7-Jul-1998 10:33pm Most things are good with garlic, heck, I like it in wild cloves completely plain! As for chocolate, well, I like it in or on most foods. It's especially good in black coffee, half cocoa and half coffee, which was something I found out when my best friend was trying to get rid of one of my few migranes. That's what he gave me, and I adored it. Oh, NOT GOOD with it? Hmm...anything with rum in it, for Plus, chocolate is not good with garlic and vice-versa. |
| Gamera | posted 8-Jul-1998 12:47am .. any fresh fruit. it's yummy with chocolate, but not improved, just different. ( I do think garlic improves some veggies, though). & as so many people pointed out- sushi. ***romkey, is that b/c nature's perfection in durian fruit simply cannot be improved upon? |
| romkey | posted 8-Jul-1998 2:22am |
| jjg | posted 8-Jul-1998 11:06am sushi? ***Romkey: thanks for the link, I was wondering what Durian fruit was when you wrote it in there. |
| BadtzMaru | posted 8-Jul-1998 11:26am chicken & dumplings, tuna casserole, scrambled eggs, grits |
| Resy | posted 8-Jul-1998 3:28pm oysters - hate 'em, slimey things, NOTHING could improve them except for people to quit pulling them out of the sea and putting them on their plates! |
| steve | posted 8-Jul-1998 6:21pm I haven't found one. ***Go visit Elizabeth, tell her you want to go to "That sushi restaurant you took steve to when he was out here," and have the garlic tuna. Then you will know. |
| phi | posted 8-Jul-1998 7:29pm I prefer pecan pie without chocolate, and turkey or lamb without garlic, although I realize I may be in the minority on this. I prefer pineapple with either; this was the only food I could think of in that category. I can't think of anything that I thought would garner universal agreement about not needing either chocolate or garlic. And frankly I think some sushi would be improved by garlic. I've even had sushi with garlic on it! So there. BadtzMaru thank you! An entire class of food (breakfast cerals) I wouldn't put chocolate or garlic in -- and jen's preversions aside I can't imagine anyone putting chocolate in their raisin bran. |
| daver | posted 8-Jul-1998 9:11pm Ha! Nice options, and perfectly correct. I cannot think of any food that cannot be improved by the addition of one of these. **eris: Have you never had a good chocolate stout? |
| nbarone | posted 8-Jul-1998 11:27pm Cap'n Crunch. |
| eris | posted 9-Jul-1998 3:11am Beer (not technically a food). Or Pineapple upside-down cake. ***daver: I've never had a chocolate stout at all. It might convert me... |
| bill | posted 9-Jul-1998 7:57am cottage cheese *** A word of warning about Jen, she's a highly advanced food chemist/demi-god. Her mind is able to grasp high-level food combinatorics that mere mortals could scarcely imagine let alone ingest. I can only hope to be an acceptable apprentice to here in this arena. It's highly likely that she gets this quality from her Dad (who some of you may know via his vacuum cleaner house fly story). |
| dpolicar | posted 13-Jul-1998 2:54pm Any combination of foods can be made to work well, given sufficient talent and inspiration. Having said that... fruit juices. This assumes that by "addition" you mean "mixed with" and not simply "served next to." Also, watermelon. ***After reading other people's comments, I have to disagree widely... the only things I've seen listed I agree with are watermelon (which I'd already said) and water. Especially not sushi -- I would expect thinly sliced pickled garlic to go wonderfully with sushi, just like pickled ginger does. |
| Mark | posted 13-Jul-1998 3:49pm Why not both? Seriously, I can't think of anything that wouldn't benefit from one of the two. I have to disagree with zaruba; most fruits are improved by the addition of chocolate, and nutella on toast makes for a great breakfast! |
| vanadium | posted 14-Jul-1998 12:10pm I disagree about sushi...roasted garlic maki would probably be really tasty. Lessee...what else. Lemon Meringue Pie shouldn't have either. I'm sure I can think of others... |
| jzp | posted 30-Jul-1998 12:20am rutabegas. they're just nasty. |
| lelle | posted 30-Jul-1998 10:26am porridge. :) *** jen: chocolate syrup is disgusting on its own or in/on anything... |
| Jody | posted 30-Jul-1998 2:00pm raspberry lime rickeys - well okay, it's a liquid not a food, but still... |
| elijahblue | posted 19-Aug-1998 6:21pm sushi, oatmeal and milk, oranges, corn on the cob, avocado... |
| gilly | posted 21-Aug-1998 3:50pm Wow, I can't actually think of any. OK, I'll agree to sushi - it might be ok, but I'm dubious that it would be improved. And frankly, I'd think that adding *anything* to durian would have to improve it. *lelle - chocolate syrup is particularly disgusting on hard boiled egg yolks. Don't ask. |
