Who's that? Does that have something to do with that morbid image of some guy being impailed...or decapitated...or something like that? ..That huge "I'm right you're wrong" cult? I'm not into satanic stuff like that.

Absolutely. He is everything to me - my beginning and my end. I would probably be dead if it wasn't for Him. I love Him very much * smile *

I think there was a historical figure whom the biblical Jesus is based on, but that a lot of the mythology (like most mythology) is a lot of hoooie, and not hoooie that I really want to have a relationship with.

Most of these. We talk from time to time, I'm all over the map. I've probably spent about as much time with him as Horus, and more than Ganesh, Krsna, Buddha, Satan, etc. etc. My energy preference is gold, white, purple, pewter, blue, green, orange, yellow, black, and red. There are good and bad shades of each, but Jesus is definitely the place to go for white energy. I often get suicidal when I get into Christianity, then pull myself out of that with Christianity too.
God's my thing, everything else is a movie in comparison, and I try to partake of it all. The Spanda Karikas (Hindu) and Jewish mysticism are my two main faiths. The Lotus Sutra, the Trinity, and everything else seem to teach the same thing though. The closer you are to human concerns, the more they differ (some encourage passion, others discourage, etc.), but as metaphysical maps read on the mystic level, they're similar.

We need Jesus with all the old fashioned bells and whistles (walk on water (in Kiev even), turn used tires into bread and beer cans into fish, heal Aids, etc.) to come back as a Lesbian or Transgendered person even). Of course the fundamentalists would probably have Jesus sent to the chair broadcast on reality TV as some sort of heretic.

My life is living proof that He is real. I could give you so many examples. When my Dad wanted to go to India as a missionary, we had to raise $6,000 NZ in 6 weeks, and God provided. That particular year, neither my Mum nor Dad were being paid - Mum looked after the kids and Dad worked voluntarily at the church. We lived a whole year by faith. No income, no benefits - just prayer. No one at the time knew what was going on, that we were living a year by total faith. We'd come home to find bags of groceries on our doorstep, pumpkins with money in an attached envelope, gifts galore, but no one knew why God had told them to give us the gifts - they just obeyed what God had told them. Then there's the times when I've given to various people/organisations, just because I felt God told me too, even tho I didn't have enough money to pay for the next week's food or board. Then I received huge blessings as a reward for giving - money, travel, even a car! And I had told no one that I was short of cash. I've seen people healed, I've seen God touch peoples' lives in ways I couldn't imagine beforehand. I've felt God's awesome presence. He has transformed my life. From the pits of depression and suicide, I have come to an amazing knowledge of God's incredible love for me. I now have a joy which never leaves me. He promised He wouldn't leave me in rough times, and He hasn't left my side. When I need Him, He is always there. My life is a living testimony of His incredible love, forgiveness, grace and mercy.

I've lived on the same sprezzatura and grace myself. I passed up a 100k/yr job to go on sabbatical / sadhana where I never waited more that a few minutes for a ride, had people give me money for motel rooms and such, and met all sorts of Shamans, sagent con-men, etc.
I'm transgendered and explore all faiths equally. I find that power and voice of God is with me through all the faiths. I do believe in Jesus, but can still argue that constant miracles aren't proof of Jesus in particular. I've met Hindus, Buddhists, and Medicine men with the same grace. But then the great white spirit coming from a white buffalo while folks chant-dance to Yah hey vah hey, is little different than the energy coming from those who chant Yahwey or Jod-He-Vav-He. I find that there are synonyms for all the colors of spirit in all cultures. Red and black are flames and void destruction whethar you call it Satan or Kali. There are so many many ways to experience God's presence. Infinite really. I hope you're exploring a bit.

Not me. It would make me believe in the god in me and my own power to draw good..and adversely to draw evil. Our thoughts are so powerful. Our thoughts are Jesus...and adversely ..Satan

Yes, but they would agree - God deserves the majority of the praise. You see, it is when God blesses us that we can bless others, and it is when we bless others, that God can bless us. It is a neverending cycle. Blessed to be a blessing. And in the same way those people blessed us, God blessed them * smile *

I'm not gonna try to persuade you - but I can speak from personal experience. He is very real in my life. If people don't want to believe, then nothing anyone can say will make them believe. Even if I had the kind of proof you were looking for, you will not necessarily believe, unless you are willing to take a step of faith. It takes a little faith to have a relationship with Jesus, but it sure is worth it! I respect your beliefs. * smile *
smurf
(reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 10-Mar-2001 12:27am
I respect what you believe, but I don't personally agree with it. I don't believe that God's power is in all faiths. Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me." I don't believe animals have spirits, and I firmly do not believe that God's presence is found in other religions, such as Islam or Buddhism. God said, "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." I have found Him to be everything I need. But I respect you, and I respect that your beliefs are different from mine. * smile *

Perhaps he was speaking locally to those who might go for polytheism or corn spirits or something. Perhaps the point was worship the ultimate god regardless of what that was called in a particular culture. So you think god would forsake sections of the globe for millenia?
Anyhow, at least you know now that your proof is not convincing since mine was identical, merely another faith, and doesn't even convince you who at least has a faith.

How can one have a relationship to someone who may or may not have ever existed and who, if he indeed existed has been dead for centuries?

There are several interpretations of Christ (man, spirit-entity, logos, godhead). I presumed that he had joined the collective unconscious, but found through a tarot dialogue that he indeed continues existence as an independent entity. His card is the King of Swords and his message is the Heirophant. I stood once in front of a white buffalo at a native gift shop where a CD chanted Yah he vah hey - Yah he vah hey and was flooded with what I realised was the natives Great White Spirit, Yahwey (ancient testament God), YodHeVavHe (Jewish tetragrammaton became Jehovah).
You exagerrate your viewpoint in anger, and feign ignorance. I am both christian and anti-christian. You wanna talk about this stuff, then let's talk. Don't obscure your own viewpoint from yourself in reaction to fundamentalists. Self-programming, you could have fooled me. Unless of course you want to act like this.
