Regardless of who did or did not get paid to lobby for the pardons, I have no doubt in my mind that Clinton looked at the details of each and every case, and only pardoned those people whom he felt were worthy. Granted, being rich or influential, or important DOES play a huge role in your ability to obtain a pardon, BUT THATS THE POINT OF A PARDON. The point of a pardon is to release significant people from their criminal records, so that they can continue to go on influencing things in a positive way. The pardons were all for the good of the country, not any individual. If there were any evidence that Clinton himself [or his wife] was paid a DIRECT fee for the pardon, that would be bad. But it just plain isnt the case... Clinton makes $100,000 per lecture, he has better ways to make money than to do than sell pardons, at risk to his own ass.

Whats ridiculous? The survey itself or the fact of allowing pardons.
I don't think anyone should ever be given a pardon.

How is this good for the country. Some of the people pardoned are convicted rape/sex offenders. How does that help the country in turning them back into society. And its already apparent Clinton did things at the risk of his own ass.

The way Clinton abused his power was ridiculous.

I agree 100% ASexyBabe. And I believe the government itself, like the higher courts should be allowed to overturn his decisions. Just my opinion though.

Good for the country in the sense that they freed important and powerful people from the burden of their [oftentimes false] criminal records, so they can go on to help the nation in their own ways, just a little better than before. Didn't hear about the sex offenders though, I'll look into that, it does seem slightly incongruent. He isn't at any risk, he doesn't have the slightest amount of fear. The whole "Scandal" is just nonsense being pushed by the media, even Bush said we should move on.

He just went crazy and pardoned everyone. Why didn't he just work to shutdown prisons while he was in office?

What peeved me was not so much who he pardoned, but who he DID NOT pardon. For example, he did not pardon Leonard Peltier.
