Do you think the United States gets enough credit for helping others?

What type of credit should the US get? Isn't it about time people/nations started helping others just out of kindness, instead of expecting some kind of credit or reward?

I think the US should mind its own business. It doesn't get enough ridicule for a nosy-ass neighbour.

I live in the US. I only view US news outlets. I don't know what kind of credit the US gets for anything.

yes i think we do. i also don't think we do or should do the things we do because of the "credit" we do or don't get. it's bad enough that most times we only get involved outside of the US if we have some monetary interest in a country or investment of some type. the actions we take are usually not pure benevolence on our part.

I think maybe the problem is that the United States needs to aide countries out of altruism, rather than egotism...helping another country should not depend on whether you receive the "credit" for it...it should be based on empathy and compassion...and nothing should be expected in return except a good feeling that you are part of that country that helps others.

Now you know why Canadians are so frustrated when some of you know nothing about us and yet still make comments about what's wrong with us. And now maybe you'll understand why so many Canadians come on here and start arguments when certain things are said...it's because we don't get noticed either and we're getting sick of the stereotypes and misconceptions...but it's really not a big deal because at least I know in my mind that Canada does help others and I am proud to be a part of my country no matter what people claim about it's "boring" history or how alike we are to our southern neighbours. And another thing...you guys are the most powerful nation...and yes...you do good things, and you do what can be viewed as not so good sometimes, but when you're on the top...everyone isn't always going to like you or agree with you on issues and people expect that you have the resources and the capability to aide them in their time of need. that's just something that comes with the territory.

As for the survey itself. The whole point of helping people...shouldn't be about being recognized or credited. In fact the best and noblest acts are done without thought of recognition or credit.

Sometimes, but we also get a lot of crap for "interfering" all the time.

What I meant by that was that I used to be able to stop a bad survey with one needs work vote. Look in the advanced stats I was working on stopping it but I had not enough help.

I agree with the people who said we should help others without expecting 'credit" in return. I also think that sometimes we help other countries that have something to offer us in return, when there are so many Americans that need help and do not receive it.

Too much I guess. They still owe the UN billions of dollars.

The U.S. doesn't get much positive press up here, credit-wise or otherwise. (Up here being Canada, you know, sometimes referred to as the 51st State)

What the hell is wrong with your grammar, survey creator? There should be a comma after 'no', and I is always capitalized. And after yes, in third 'yes' oprtion, there should not be space between 'yes' and a comma. And yes, it's don't, not dont

I don't understand what you are so upset about half the time you comment I can't figure out what the hell you are talking about. You use words that don't belong where you put them.

I noticed it, but I could read it. Not that I don't believe in fixing things like that, because I don't think it should be like this, but I really think there was no need for her to be that harsh.

I sincerely doubt she is a teacher.
