Good question! I never really thought about it before.

Well think about some name as Dick, won't you think he's a horny guy?

I'm ashamed to say it, but I always think highly of people named Kate. I know a Kate, and I always imagine they're like her.

Sometimes. Like in the Phantasm horror movies, the real name of the guy who plays the creepy old man is Angus Scrimm. That's a great name for a horror movie actor.

The name Sue has negative feelings for me because every Sue that I have known personally has been nucking futs.

Sometimes, I am afraid to say which ones just make me cringe, cause someone here may have that name. The name "Tammy" makes me happy, but I know one Tammy that sucks, but most people named Tammy are good. My name makes me happy, cause no one else really has this name (my real name).

I did the registration for a trade shows a few times, I came across this one name of a female Dr., Gay Lynn Dykeson, that is a name you would get a lot of crap for. Dumb parents. But then again, she may have picked that name for herself later in life.

I associate the name "Jordan" with a bratty kid. Probably because I have babysat three boys(not all at once) named Jordan and they were all spoiled whinny brats.

Occaisonally, but I try not to let it discourage me from not liking the person, but I do get bad vibes.

I will sometimes get a mental picture of someone based on their names, their voices, and even their comments on Survey Central. But I guess that isn't really what you asked. I guess I don't feel negative or positive about someone just based on their names.

Because of a run-in I had in high school, I can't handle the name Meredith. Then there was this woman Sunny who I interviewed with right out of college. I didn't take the job because I didn't think I could answer the phone, "Sunny *****'s office," with a straight face.

I hate to admit it but yes, people's names do have a tendency to fit them.
eva
(reply to Annette) posted 15-Feb-2001 2:06pm
maybe not, but there are certain characteristics that seem to go with the name, like every Ben I've ever known was most certainly a Ben. People have a tendency to become their own adjectives.

If I've known a really nice person by a name then the name gives me a positive feeling but if I knew a really awful person by that name then it gives me a negative feeling :) for instance I have known 2 Sebastion's and both were complete jerks. I have also known 2 Skye's and one was a dog the other was really nice.

I prefer getting to know people before making value assessments about them. I've had others discriminate against me based on my name, and it isn't fair.

Every guy I have met named Chris/Kris has turned out to be a real jerk, so I a little superstitious about it.

Certain names just remind me of other people I've known with that name. Specially if it's an uncommon name like "Tamara" or "Francesca". It's usually just a first impression though.

I dated a "Chris". He was the worst person I've ever known. He turned out to be a cheating, cross-dressing compulsive liar.

I know it's terrible to prejudge someone, especially based on his/her name, but I am guilty of it. What am I SUPPOSED to assume when I meet someone named Angel (ummm, stripper) or Billy Ray (ummm, redneck).

I remember one family when I was a kid and the whole bunch of them used to run around with snot all over their faces. It was gross! So, whenever I meet someone of the same name all I can think of is 'snot-nosed so-and-so'.
