my fav was the count, but I liked Grover because he never used contractions ... the best book was The Monster at the End of this Book (please do not turn the page ....)

I kinda dug the guy who went nuts during the "Ma Na Ma Na" song.

***lizzie: In fact, I believe Kermit was the primary character during the years I watched.

***romkey: Wow, that is very very screwed up. The Swedish Chef was awesome, though. It was years before I realized he had human hands; when I did, I think I may have actually screamed in horror.

In my era, Mr. Snufflupagus was this figment of Big Bird's imagination that made him extra special to me. When he was on the show, it was very exciting because of Big Bird's dilemma. Personality-wise, I'd probably choose Kermit or Oscar... I really loved them all, Sesame Street was will be a wonderful show.

How about the 'Borq borq borq' guy? :) Wasn't that the first "funny" usenet group name - swedish.chef.borq.borq.borq? Bits of trivia. In any case, I loved Ernie. Mischevious, but usually trying to be helpful. Back in the "old days" before baby everythings started coming out. Now there are baby muppets, baby this, baby that.

***Bill: The ma-na guy was NOT animal! There were two aliens - one that sang one part of the song, one that sang the other. One always had the "short" parts until he goes insane and takes over the song :)

You forgot Kermit the Frog, who I believe was on Sesame Street from time to time, as a reporter. I picked Grover and Snuffy. The Swedish Chef was on the Muppet Show, not Sesame Street (or did he make a guest appearance I missed??) but he is very very cool.

***Resy: I still have my copy of that book in my closet somewhere...I will have to dig it out when I move in a month.

My parents didn't really let me watch Sesame Street because it was racially integrated. I liked the Swedish Chef a lot from the Muppet Show though.

I saw Swedish Sesame Street (some muppets are the same, the rest of the show is Swedish) and my favourites were the Count and Cookie Monster. My favourite non-Sesame Street muppets are Rolf (sp?) and the Muppaphone. :) And the Swedish Chef does sound Swedish, though the words are nonsense. :)

"Rubber Ducky..you're the one! lalalallalala" He wasn't on Sesame Street but who could not love Animal? Sesame Street was the greatest! I often wonder if my son would have had the imagination he has if Sesame Street hadn't been a part of his "formative years"....which so far have lasted 30 years.

Your loveable huggable furry old pal, Grover. I also used to love the guy who walked around painting numbers on things, "gonna paint a 7!" to the sound of this great old piano rag music. Oh and the chef who always tripped and fell down the stairs while carrying "9 strawberry supreme pies" after the number songs. (10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1)

I got nicknamed Scooter while in boarding school, after the muppet show muppet, but my favourite was Animal. I can't believe you forgot Kermit from the list!

A few of these (Telly, Zoe, Elmo, The Fuzzy Aliens who ... and the Muppet Show crowd) didn't exist when I was a child. I truly can't believe you left out my favourite, Kermit! He was the definitive muppet! My physics prof. in high school sounded eerily like Kermit, too. I also quite liked Grover, Cookie Monster, and The Count (and later, Animal). I still have a 45 with "Rubber Duckie" on one side and "2" (or is that "I've Got Two Eyes") as the b-side. And Snuffleupagus was way cooler when Big Bird was the only one who ever saw him! (My paternal grandfather's middle name was Aloyisius! My name, my father's and my grandfather's differ only in our middle names, too.)

I just read "The Monster at the End of this Book" to the boys the other night! Great book!

*** kadai: I remember it as "7 chocolate cream pies" (less certain of the type of pie, but fairly certain it was 7.

I don't know that Snufflupagus was my favorite when I was little....But in my memory he is my favorite. I was very sorry to hear that everyone could see him (as of a few(?) years ago). I always identified with Cookie Monster too. It's his googly eyes.....

I stoped watching that show not because I lost interest but because people got on my case about it. I know how to read write and count already but I never watched it for that. I hated the two headed monster thing, the fuzzy yup yup yup things got anoying but always were cool, I liked grover best because he was cute, unannoying, smart enough to not be insulting (ex. Elmo isn't), and when they brought those kids on the show (real ones)he always gave them a hug. Note: I know I mispelt, but I am lazy and it's late so I will fix it later. shame on me.

Kermit rocked. I loved Snuffy and the Count too... (always loved the one where the count was counting stars and getting wishes...and it ends with him on like a million and a half... :)) Nowadays, I really really like Elmo, despite his rocketship-ride to fame and fortune and all...

Pandora - Teeny Little Super Guy! Paul Fierlinger wrote that theme song, and his son Phil was in my high school class.

Sesame Street has some great female role models!!!! Maria works in the fix-it shop a very untraditional job for a
female...also Zoe is a female muppet and very lively and active and curious....Betty Lu was wonderful always
involved in plays and chosen as emcee...and Oscar had a gurlfriend....she was a dog, I loved her!!

Cookie Monster, without a doubt. He has an innocence about him that lures you into a false sense of security, then he ATTACKS the cookies with a reckless abandon, flinging crumbs everywhere. The psycho-sexual implications of all this are classic.

I can't believe I still comments to make!!! Oscar's worm was Smiley, I think, and he may have actually been my favorite. Also, do you guys remember "Eddie...He likes Spaghetti..." with Mr. Vegetable? I think he was Mr. Vegetable...he was something Vegetable. He was one of my favorites, too. I love Sesame Street!!!

I used to love(and still do) Grover as a Waiter hehehe and the guy who'd always get his meal ruined by him :) I love muppets...

I don't know that I would have survived my childhood without the talent and purpose of Jim Henson. Every thing that man touched became magical. His work has greatly impacted my life.

Cookie Monster, followed very closely by Grover. I was eight when Sesame Street first came on. Too old for the show really, but a lot of us used to watch it anyway.

Sesame Street!!! Owow!!! I love this show. I still watch it and I'm 18 years old. I like to watch old ones. Not for entertainment, but for nostalgia.

Gonzo was my favorite muppet because I could almost figure out what he was and then I would become confused again.
