Yes, I have done this after removing all of the electrical parts. It is a good way to get the keys nice and clean. * smile *

I don't have a dishwasher. Is that a safe way to clean your keyboard? I don't think water and electricity mix very well.

Nope. Come to think of it, my keyboard is pretty foul-looking. On closer inspection, it's all grimy and there is seemingly some dabs of peanut butter stuck in between the keys. I should clean it...maybe with a toothbrush.

No but I do occasionally pop off the keys and soak them in detergent, especially when converting a keyboard to dvorak.

If you take out the electronic parts which is just a thin pad you can put it in the dishwasher. Don't use the dry cycle. It comes out looking brand new. Let it completely dry for at least 24 hours before putting it back together.

If my keyboard were dirty enough I would just buy a new one and throw the old one on the big pile of unused computer equipment in my shed.

It is really very simple to do and will not hurt your keyboard in anyway. You take the keyboard apart and remove the electronic board that is in it and you only put the part of the computer that has the keys attached to it in the dishwasher. It restores the keyboard to like new condition.

no, but now that someone has mentioned it, I might experiment with some old, defunct keyboards laying around here.

I don't like the dishwasher. When I was little I used to be afraid of it and I am no less fond of it now.

Someday you will get over that fear. Maybe when there are too many dishes to do.

I have never washed dishes in my life. And no, I'm not a spoiled little brat, I'm an athlete who just never has any time! When I'm an adult I'll hire someone. Or I'll just eat sushi. Chopsticks are easy to rinse off.

Who said you were a spoiled brat? Most fears can and will be overcome in time.

Never owned a dishwasher, and never want to. Many of my friends have dishwashers, and most of their dishes come out with icky stuff on them. Besides, by the time you've rinsed and everything, you might as well wash them and know that they've been washed well!

I guess the quality of Canadian dishwashers is superior to NZ dishwashers, huh? * wink *

I could put food covered dishes in my dishwasher and have no problem whatsoever. My dishes come out very clean.

No, I don't have a dishwasher. That being said, I wouldn't do that if I did have a dishwasher. It would probably damage the keyboard.
