| ASB | posted 9-Feb-2001 11:36pm Yes, I have done this after removing all of the electrical parts. It is a good way to get the keys nice and clean. |
| Richard | (reply to ASB) posted 9-Feb-2001 11:52pm Have you ever cooked a fish in your car's engine? |
| ASexyBabesToy | posted 9-Feb-2001 11:53pm I have done this too. I know someone who makes money cleaning keyboards this way. |
| Zang | posted 10-Feb-2001 12:19am I don't have a dishwasher. Is that a safe way to clean your keyboard? I don't think water and electricity mix very well. |
| confetti | posted 10-Feb-2001 12:27am Nope. Come to think of it, my keyboard is pretty foul-looking. On closer inspection, it's all grimy and there is seemingly some dabs of peanut butter stuck in between the keys. I should clean it...maybe with a toothbrush. |
| mandy | posted 10-Feb-2001 12:43am I think my SO would shoot me! |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 10-Feb-2001 2:57am No but I do occasionally pop off the keys and soak them in detergent, especially when converting a keyboard to dvorak. |
| ASexyBabesToy | (reply to confetti) posted 10-Feb-2001 8:13am If you take out the electronic parts which is just a thin pad you can put it in the dishwasher. Don't use the dry cycle. It comes out looking brand new. Let it completely dry for at least 24 hours before putting it back together. |
| ASB | (reply to Richard) posted 10-Feb-2001 8:56am nope, Have you? |
| Richard | (reply to ASB) posted 10-Feb-2001 7:16pm Nope. Hare Krishna! |
| jjg | posted 12-Feb-2001 7:45am If my keyboard were dirty enough I would just buy a new one and throw the old one on the big pile of unused computer equipment in my shed. |
| Pooh_Bear | posted 12-Feb-2001 12:39pm It never even crossed my mind. |
| jkiehart | posted 12-Feb-2001 4:13pm LOL LOL LOL LOL No! |
| ASB | posted 12-Feb-2001 11:29pm It is really very simple to do and will not hurt your keyboard in anyway. You take the keyboard apart and remove the electronic board that is in it and you only put the part of the computer that has the keys attached to it in the dishwasher. It restores the keyboard to like new condition. |

| ASexyBabesToy | (reply to they) posted 14-Feb-2001 11:53am Don't worry they. After March 3rd you get to see it all the time!!!! |
| TheBlackAdder | posted 14-Feb-2001 12:24pm no, but now that someone has mentioned it, I might experiment with some old, defunct keyboards laying around here. |
| confetti | (reply to ASexyBabesToy) posted 18-Feb-2001 8:48pm I don't like the dishwasher. When I was little I used to be afraid of it and I am no less fond of it now. |
| ASexyBabesToy | (reply to confetti) posted 22-Feb-2001 1:40pm Someday you will get over that fear. Maybe when there are too many dishes to do. |
| confetti | (reply to ASexyBabesToy) posted 22-Feb-2001 6:19pm I have never washed dishes in my life. And no, I'm not a spoiled little brat, I'm an athlete who just never has any time! When I'm an adult I'll hire someone. Or I'll just eat sushi. Chopsticks are easy to rinse off. |
| ASexyBabesToy | (reply to confetti) posted 24-Feb-2001 7:24am Who said you were a spoiled brat? Most fears can and will be overcome in time. |

| smurf | posted 3-Mar-2001 7:28pm Never owned a dishwasher, and never want to. Many of my friends have dishwashers, and most of their dishes come out with icky stuff on them. Besides, by the time you've rinsed and everything, you might as well wash them and know that they've been washed well! |
| Matt | (reply to smurf) posted 4-Mar-2001 3:31pm I've had a dishwasher for ages and the dishes come out pretty clean |
| smurf | (reply to Matt) posted 4-Mar-2001 8:19pm I guess the quality of Canadian dishwashers is superior to NZ dishwashers, huh? |
| Matt | (reply to smurf) posted 4-Mar-2001 10:08pm That could be it |
| ASB | (reply to smurf) posted 5-Mar-2001 3:27pm I could put food covered dishes in my dishwasher and have no problem whatsoever. My dishes come out very clean. |
| eloradanan | posted 10-Jun-2006 1:41am No, I don't have a dishwasher. That being said, I wouldn't do that if I did have a dishwasher. It would probably damage the keyboard. |
