Worth a chuckle...

I thought that was funny. I've been passing around some "Windows 98" pseudo-code that I got from A Certain List and all of my coding friends thought it was absolutely hilarious :) Sad that we're so amused by pseudo-code ...

Shortly after arriving in the US, Paulo looked up at a Getty gas station sign and said "sigh... I've clearly spent too much time working with UNIX." Wes and I looked up, blinked, and laughed. He looked at us and added "clearly, so have you."

Anyone who wants to explain this hilarious nugget of comic wackiness to those of us who don't wear pocket protectors or black-plastic-framed glasses with white tape holding the bridge together, please feel free to do so.

..and I know I've done too much scripting lately, 'cause this was in a dream I had last night! **** so sorry (ron2112 and others) ... awk and sed are a kind of well, not a computer languge, but a way to get information back from UNIX ... grep let's you do a pattern match (ps -ef | grep resy, means, find all the processes running for username resy)... these are not 'book' definitions, of course, just an interpretation. The whole thing is a play on the way these things are pronounced (although I've heard people say 'zed' instead of 'said' for sed). I don't ACTUALLY wear black framed glasses or a pocket protector...but I do tetter on the geeky side (too much technical knowledge)!! **oh, Atzilut, he still won't be able to produce the script, your new 'developer' position is SAFE! :)

If I ever had to name a pair of animals, I decided that I would name them Awk and Sed...

Use Perl, do away with awk/sed/grep...
