| confetti | posted 26-Jan-2001 2:26am One, that I know of. What's the big difference? In Costa Rica practically no one wears watches anyway. |

| daver | posted 26-Jan-2001 9:09am Six main ones and some oddball wee ones. |
| Enheduanna | posted 26-Jan-2001 10:34am I think it's 6, with Alaska and Hawaii (which look like they might be in two time zones). |
| SueBee | posted 26-Jan-2001 11:37am I almost said 4, but I guess we have to remember Alaska and Hawaii, too. |
| Maarten | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 26-Jan-2001 11:43am In that case The Netherlands is in two, as we have some islands too: Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, St Eustasius and St Maarten. |
| ASB | posted 26-Jan-2001 1:15pm 5 counting Alaska. Everyone always forgets about poor Alaska. |
| SueBee | (reply to Maarten) posted 26-Jan-2001 1:16pm Wow! You have an island named after you? I didn't know you were a saint! |
| ASB | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 26-Jan-2001 1:17pm I am pretty sure it is 5 I think Alaska and Hawaii are in the same one. |
| Maarten | (reply to SueBee) posted 26-Jan-2001 1:21pm You have no idea who you're talking to! |
| daver | (reply to ASB) posted 26-Jan-2001 1:34pm Alaska is GMT-9; Hawaii is GMT-10. Some of the Aleutians are on Hawaii time. |
| Enheduanna | (reply to ASB) posted 26-Jan-2001 1:38pm From the chart in the link above, I couldn't tell if Hawaii is in one or two. But it does look like Alaska and Hawaii are (at least mostly) in the same zone. And if we follow Maarten's example and include Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and all those other "territories," it's probably more. |
| ASB | (reply to daver) posted 26-Jan-2001 2:24pm wow I never thought of all those places. I thought hawaii and alaska were the only ones that were easily forgotten. Lol lol |
| Jemmy | posted 26-Jan-2001 4:38pm 4? |
| cody | posted 28-Jan-2001 2:45am Depends on how you define it. Anywhere from 4 to 8. |
| Zang | posted 31-Jan-2001 2:50am I count five. The "time zone" concept was invented in Canada BTW. |
| Zang | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 31-Jan-2001 2:54am I can't imagine that the territories in the Caribbean would be in a different time zone, but Guam would be, and perhaps Samoa. |
| Enheduanna | (reply to Zang) posted 31-Jan-2001 11:01am That's probably true. Although parts of the Caribbean might be far enough east, or might not go on daylight savings time when we do or some such (which isn't exactly a different time zone, but it's still a different time). |

| natsim | posted 5-Feb-2001 7:07pm 3 but I hadn't thought of including islands. Must look into it. |
| magbast | posted 8-Feb-2001 12:00am well continental i think 5...if you count hawaii, it may be 6 |
