| daver | posted 22-Jun-1998 4:30pm Jasmine (in small doses) and vanilla are my favorites... |
| milktree | posted 22-Jun-1998 4:50pm Mostly I don't like incense, there are a few that are nice, but not very many. |
| hunter | posted 22-Jun-1998 4:59pm I use incense very occasionally, when I need to kill another odor. I don't mind the smell, but I find the texture of the smoke choking. I use whatever my housemate has on hand, usually. I don't have strong preferences. |
| jjg | posted 22-Jun-1998 5:05pm I'm allergic to most strong scents. Incense tends to give me a sinus headache, so I never use the stuff. |
| Pomeranian | posted 22-Jun-1998 5:22pm My roomate loves incense and through his use of them I have come to like them. I am often amazed by the effect that incense have on a room...I have sensed a change of mood in a room that can only be explained by the use of incense. I wonder sometimes who writes the packaging on incense, and how the various properties ascribed to them are decided. |
| kadai | posted 22-Jun-1998 5:46pm Nag champa - good stuff. |
| bill | posted 22-Jun-1998 7:00pm I use it for the cool looking smoke trails. Often I can't take the smoke - it's best burned in a large open room. |
| lisashea | posted 22-Jun-1998 7:17pm I have a variety of Japanese incense that I'll use during one of our Japanese meals (with sake and plum wine!!) It's a very delicate fragrance, sort of like my putting on appropriate music with meals. |
| BadtzMaru | posted 22-Jun-1998 8:51pm Cinnamon is my favorite scent of all. I also like vanilla. |
| ron2112 | posted 23-Jun-1998 8:58am How about "I use incense to cover my tracks" (insert the sound of a percolating bong here) |
| kirst | posted 23-Jun-1998 12:26pm I don't use incense much anymore. However, when I lived with a roommate (and her smelly dog), incense became very important. Incense can smell really pleasant, but often it's overbearing and sickening. |
| steve | posted 23-Jun-1998 7:39pm I used to kind of like it, just 'cause it smells nice, but Tom hates it, and I don't feel strongly about it, so I don't use it. |
| seth | posted 23-Jun-1998 9:39pm Incense burned indoors is always overpowering. |
| Jody | posted 26-Jun-1998 10:37am It makes me sneeze. |
| jzp | posted 27-Jun-1998 7:34am you left off "i use incense instead of chemical propelled air freshener" or "i use incense only when I smoke". |
| romkey | posted 28-Jun-1998 10:55am I get some nice incense from DharmaCrafts - yes folks, that's DharmaCrafts, purveyors of fine incense and other DharmaWare products, now on a web site near you, yes, again, that's DharmaCrafts - D H A R M A. um, anyway, I just light up a little when I feel like it. Sometimes when I code. |
| ron2112smom | posted 28-Jun-1998 4:00pm Incense brings back too many memories I'd just as soon forget. |
| RatQueen | posted 30-Jun-1998 4:28pm I dont use incense but I know people who do |
| eris | posted 10-Jul-1998 8:06pm I really dislike almost all incense. It tends to be way too strong/cloying for me. |
| gilly | posted 3-Aug-1998 5:10pm Cinnamon and vanilla for me. I rarely let the whole stick burn, though - just enough to get the scent without making the room unbreathable. |
| elijahblue | posted 19-Aug-1998 11:16pm nag champa and patchouli are my favorites |
| pandora | posted 7-Nov-1998 3:08pm I use it to cover up the smell of smoke in my bedroom. Specifically Nag Champa. |
| they | posted 1-Jan-1999 7:04pm I love blueberry incense. I mostly use cone incense because it's not as messy as the sticks. I usually drip some plant extract oil on the incense that I'm burning. My favorite oil is Patchouli, but I also use Eucalyptus, Pettigraine, and frankinscense. One thing I didn't see on this survey was the use of incense for medicinal or pyschological purposes. For instance, frankinscense and Pettigraine are very calming, relaxing scents. Patchouli is an aphrodisiac as well as many other things. Sorry if anything in this comment is misspelled, but the spellchecker has been telling me spellings are wrong today when the dictionary tells me it is right... so I'm boycotting the spell checker for today "L" |
