Fake violence, I can deal with. But real violence nauseates me.

If they deserve it, then of course. I haven't got time for any hardcore criminals and I may as well gain some enjoyment out of their demise!

Interesting reading the advanced stats. If only I was not away this weekend, I would have changed my vote to reasonable!

Nice to see you think I am respected!

I watched Kevorkian do doctor-assisted suicide on 60 minutes a few years ago. We can watch murders and all sorts of other violence on TV every night if we want -- what's the big deal? (not that it's good, but this sort of thing is already all around us)

I doubt I could even watch it on videotape. I had to cover my eyes during the electrocution scenes in The Green Mile.

I would be able to, depending on the method. Lethal injection would be boring, firing squad would be too quick. I think gas chamber or the electric chair would provide the most entertainment.

Meds don't work on me. In fact some make me even worse. As for a shrink, why? Why, when I have such good friends as Twist and Maarten to chat with? I happen to be of the belief that having good friends is the key to good mental health.

Yes, I'd be *able* to, but I wouldn't *ever* want to. It would certainly upset me a great deal no matter what the person had done. Perhaps it would bring to light the true horror of state sanctioned murder?

What if that person brutally raped one of your family members then kept them alive for a month while torturing them to within an inch of their lives and then cutting off all their fingers and toes and burning them to death? Would you be able to watch the killer die with no pain by lethal injection? Personally I would have the same treatment given to the murderer.
Frostbrand
(reply to kaleb777) posted 16-Dec-2000 2:03am
For someone like that, I would find ANY from of execution, no matter how brutal and prolonged, to be too quick. I think the term "fate worse than death" applies to a case like that.
kaleb777
(reply to Frostbrand) posted 16-Dec-2000 8:56am
If the victims family had the final say on the punishment, I think I would need to cool down for about five years until I became rational again, however I believe I would still call for their death. Probably by electric chair. Of the current death penalties, that seems the most horrible way to die.
Grandizer

Things like that don't bother me per se.
I have never had a problem watching anything on TV while eating, reading or doing anything else. IE: I have watched the 4 Faces of Death movies while eating dinner.

What if that guilty guilty person was actually innocent? This isn't an "eye for an eye tooth for a tooth" society anymore. I suppose you expect a thief to get it's hand cut off?
kaleb777
(reply to jkiehart) posted 18-Dec-2000 2:07pm
I would not allow anyone to be put to death if there was any doubt they were guilty. The evidence would have to be irrefutable. You're right. This isn't an "eye for an eye tooth for a tooth" society. This is a society where the victims pay more than the criminals. Which is worse?

I'm still not so sure he's actually the serial killer. Maybe he just got a taste of some sick sense of power after pretending to be one, and now he really likes how powerful it makes him feel to scare people. We'll see...

Yes, especially for a heinous crime, any crime to do with children. I absolutely feel all executions should be in a public square. It would be a deterrent. Some people may say that is barbaric, no I don't think so, because what I think is barbaric is the escalated crime and violence against children, older disabled people, peace loving people in general.
Jemmy

How could anyone watch that? If I watched it, I would probably die along with them. I can't take my own pain or other people's. Just watching something like that would hurt.

After a fashion I agree with you. As far as I'm concerned, once you murdered a child, you've LOSt your human rights. I've been chastised by many of my fellow Amnesty inernational members for thinking this way, but it's how I feel.

i know that I wouldn't enjoy it but the point of seeing something like that is not for enjoyment. To understand and recognize the importance of life. I am sure that the people that really SHOULD appreciate the fragility of life the most are the ones that abuse it the most and would likely get a kick out of this type of event
