What is your catch phrase?

A catch phrase is that thing you often say while collecting your thoughts or getting someone's attention. Examples are:
Um, well,
Lookie here,
Duh,
Hmmm,
I don't know,
Purple carrots of Jesus,
Yeah right,
Hey hey hey,
Oh my god,
Good grief...
There are tons of them and they usually reveal a bit about a person's world view.

"cool"

I usually say Um, well, you know. Or if I am with my best friend, we both say "Gym socks. Nothing says merry Christmas like gym socks". But that's just something we heard in a movie and it stuck.

I don't think I have one... when I do, I tend to change it fairly frequently. I do say "cool" a lot, though.

I don't think I say the same thing when I'm collecting my thoughts vs. when I'm getting someone's attention. If I'm collecting my thoughts, I think I generally say "Well...," which I think I got from my father. If I'm trying to get someone's attention, I usually say "Hey!" or just their name.

i don't say one phrase, instead i studder a lot, and take really long pauses inbetween words. I do sometimes, though say um... and oh god.

Back in my tripping days, I used to be able to play 'paint by numbers'.. I think the moon should be lavendar, shadows will be electric green.. It changed my outlook too, I went from desiring West Point to desiring a llama ranch. Watching the mid-east skies on TV absolutely full of missles and actually thinking about the people on the receiving end while on shrooms will do that to you.

(reply to Jemmy) posted 10-Dec-2000 8:38pm
Ya! Or even when I am feeling any bit of emotion and I am trying to explain it to a friend, I stutter. I'm really bad at expressing my feelings. I rather keep them balled up on the inside so no one gets hurt exept me.
Jemmy
(reply to Lauren) posted 11-Dec-2000 11:18am
Very passive, huh? I am a lot like that in person. I don't think I am here on SC. The worst is trying to break up with someone. I stutter and can't think of a good way to say it, and end up not doing for a long time, ecspecially if the person still means a lot to me.
Lauren
(reply to Jemmy) posted 11-Dec-2000 8:13pm
I understand exactly what you mean. I think I am a lot more out going on the internet overall, because to me in someway this isn't real. I don't see anyone, I don't hear people's voices, so here I don't care as much what people think. But in the real world, I am kinda passive. I find that writing letters is the best way for me to express myself. I usually confront the person and hand them a letter. It's easier, without that my feelings would never be understood.
Jemmy
(reply to Lauren) posted 12-Dec-2000 7:23am
Oh my god, you do that to? If I have a problem with someone, I always write them a letter or an e-mail! I even did that to a teacher once because I couldn't talk to her, and she wanted me to. Yeah, on the internet, I don't know these people, and it is easier to be open because it won't like, come back to haunt me or something.

"Right." That's said before you say what you've gone up to say. It's kind of broken into 2 syllables ("Ri-ught" - but not so exaggerated). It's local to my old school as far as I'm aware.

"Way..." Sort of meaning "but" or "what on earth do you mean, you fool" when responding to something someone says. Again, that comes from one village in particular as far as I'm aware but has spread through my old school so other people use it too.

"Yizzy." The boy who sits next to me is named Yiz, and I've bastardized his name to mean anything unsavory. Yiz is sick right now, and I keep teasing him that he's all "Yizzy." And I say, "Stop being all Yizzy!"

Maybe it's an inside joke...
