I consider myself to be an adult who is capable of childish behavior. |

Half and half. I remember once when I was about 25 I was at the supermarket and a young girl that was running around got into my way. Her mother said "Look out honey, let the man get by." It came as a bit of a shock that she referred to me as a man. I've always been a kid, and later a guy, dude, bloke etc. I always thought that men were over 40 with kids, a wife and a job on an oil rig. I still consider myself childish at times because I can be silly. I realised I was an adult in an adult world when two people I know at work had a verbal fight that would have lasted half an hour if they were children, but as adults there was talk of defamation and lawyers etc. Sometimes children do things better than adults. Adulthood can be scary. |

I'm not sure anymore. I don't really want to think of myself as a child or an adult. I'm a person. In some ways I am sort of an adult, but in other ways, I'm not. I haven't got all the life experiences or wisdom (yet!), and although I do tend to screw up a lot, I can usually handle my own life. I do have a lot of "childish" veiws, though. I want everything to be nice and sweet, even though deep inside, I know it can't be. That could be considered childish. I also think I could be a child in a rush to grow up. In another survey about your favorite song lyrics, I gave the words to a spice girls song that I love, but I didn't really know why I like it so much. Now, I think it might be because it reminded me of myself. I guess I can be childish, even though I don't really want to admit it. But children deserve a lot more respect than people give them. They understand more than people give them credit for, and some of what they don't understand is because adults hold it back from them. I hope that I still have the spirit of a child, and always will. Many adults now are so hard and lifeless. They'll do anything for a raise in money. It is a pretty cruel world out there, and a lot of people need out help. Many people don't provide that help. They only seem to care about what is going on right in front of their noses, and they are sometimes blind to that too. People are killing each other, and they worry about the price of steak these days. As children starve in far off countries, their biggest worry is what suit to wear to work. I'm not saying that all adults are like this, because they definatley are not. But many of the ones that I have run into are. Maybe it is because they aren't happy, or maybe they are just that way. But whatever it is, I never want to be like that. I'm not sure what the difference is between an adult and a child. Is it age? Attitude? Knowledge? I'm not sure if anyone really knows. An adult is supposed to make good decisions. Not all of them do, and a lot of people who would be considered children would make really good decisions if they were given a chance. Maybe I'm a child, maybe I'm not. But whatever I am, I just hope I will keep whatever aspects of my personality that are considered good, and not lose them in this insensitive, uncaring world, and help others to keep their own. |

Although I am 16, I consider myself to be an adult. |

I'm only 15...I'm still a child. |

I am an Adult, but there is a child in me wanting to come out and play... I don't see him as much as I use to though... I think I am getting older because of that very reason. |

An adult but I allow myself to act like a child every once in a while. |

I am legally an adult now, but I really don't feel like one. I still feel like a kid sometimes actually a lot of times. |

I would say at 16 I'm still pretty much a child as I'm still living with my father and get rules from him. If I were living on my own like some of my friends and had my own responsibilities I might think differently. |

I have a feeling you don't like the anonymous sheild some people use?? lol I don't really understand why some people use it like to say what is considered an adult?? It makes no sense unless they think the question will make them look dumb?? |

I don't like the anonymous thing. People use it to be mean to other users. |
| mandy | | (reply to Jemmy) posted 19-Dec-2000 8:54pm |
It's not the anonymous option you dislike...it's the people behind it who "misuse" it. I wonder about them too. I feel sorry for them. It must feel awful being afraid to say what you're really thinking.
One the other hand, it is much needed, for those times when someone has something to add to the debate...about themselves.....that they are not willing or able to share with their handle attached. |

I don't like mean things. Anonymous mean comments bother me. You're right, I don't like the way it is misused. But sometomes there are anonymous comments that shouldn't even be said with the handle attatched. I don't understand how someone could say such cruel things. |
