Not many things. The things that make me most angry are when I see people exploiting others or not caring for others - structural things mainly. Or biased reporting in the media. I don't really get angry about personal things.

Lately...not a whole helluva lot. I have changed my perspective. I am so Happy Happy...not even my silly Ex Husband and a killer cold/flu bug can spoil my outlook. I realize that getting angry does nothing but hurt me and make annoying situations twice as horrible. getting angry never gets me what I want. Staying calm and being kind seems to make everything smooth itself out faster and easier. It's freaky. Try it.

One good trick I learned from a book is to pretend that everyone else in the world is enlightened...except me....
So when people do stuff that makes my blood boil...I step back and pretend that they are enlightened and just trying to teach me something I need to learn...It turns every irritation into a gift. It really works...

People who try to enforce their own personal standards, people who aren't in authority who try to enforce rules, people who assume others are doing something wrong when they aren't. (Unwarranted suspicion and accusations; peer oppression) I think that kind of behavior is patronizing and insulting. On most matters I am pretty mellow, but if someone engages in that kind of behavior where I am concerned, I let them know... without saying anything.

Corporate pricks who need to be shoved over a cliff. Laptops. Ringing phones at work, no one answering them. Pushy snotty doges who get mad about nothing and call me to complain about it because their parents bought them sports cars when the turned 16 and paid their rent for them. Digital cable that fudges up every so often. Phone ringing at home when I am masturbating. Thinking about that tape I lost a year ago. United Airlines. Joy Fitzjerald. Phil Dent. Weird, never heard that one. The answer however would very probably be "no, it's not true". Here's how that stupid little thing started among kids:

Cool Dude=CD. CD=Camels Dick. Hence dude=dick. Kids always turn everything positive into a negative so they can laugh at people getting called "bad" things when they think it's good. Ha ha. Hilarious isn't it? But yes, that is I believe how this particular urban myth sprang about * smile * Quite out of control for something so small and silly really (no pun intended).

It also depends how you use the term "stupid". I don't tend to use it to mean "little education and a low iq" or something along those lines: I use it to mean behaviour which is illogical, obviously 'wrong' (not morally) and causes problems (again not really morally... problems like the car not working because you took to the engine with a baseball bat * smile * ). Very hard to describe since I just want to say "I don't mean it as in stupid, I mean it as in stupid." * wink *
msgman
(reply to supplicant) posted 7-Nov-2000 5:55am
Yeah... that's pretty much what I mean by "self-inflicted ignorance". People who do things like vote for a politician because their favourite rock star does, or who are capable of learning to drive and pass a driving test but can't be bothered to learn to park straight. People who think that talking loudly and slowly makes foreigners able to understand English. People who use ignorance as an excuse to avoid work ("will you print this document for me - I don't understand computers"). People who blame other people for their own failure to read instructions.
supplicant
(reply to msgman) posted 7-Nov-2000 10:24am

There's a joke (among us witty Semitic linguists) that every Arabic word means its meaning, its opposite, something having to do with sex, and something having to do with camels. That should give you some idea of the wide range of meaning for any given Arabic word.
The root that "dude" would come from in Arabic is the root that means both "beloved" and "uncle" in other Semitic languages, although I don't know what it means in Arabic; I'd say it's entirely conceivable that it could mean a camel's penis. I've heard that it's a term for a horse's penis, too, but I wasn't told that that meaning stemmed from Arabic.

There's this stuff similar to Nair I got a while back that claimed to remove the hair and after x number of applications, it's not supposed to grow back. It actually worked for me (so far anyway). I will have to go dig up the name...it's Epi-something. They also have laser treatments these days that are supposed to kill the hair once and for all, but they're quite expensive and I don't know if they really do keep it away for good.

Yeah, Laser hair removal is on my 'to do when I am rich' list. I just tried Nads(I'm sure you've seen the commercials).. and it seems to work okay, but it is very time consuming and hard to do on your own body since you have to be at a certain angle.. I used to use hot wax but I had the same problem. Until I find the perfect cure, I'll have to keep shaving I guess. * dead face *
